Holiday Shopping Trends

The holiday season is finally here!! With the new winter season, comes new gift ideas, and lots of new holiday trends! At this time of month, it is estimated that most shoppers will do their buying online using their smart phones to detect the sales and compare prices for the best deals. More consumers are looking for a good value for all of their holiday shopping.  The economy has many retailers thinking outside the box this holiday season in order to get people to shop in stores and not online.  Stores in the mall are using large displays and bright colored signs to catch your eye and bring people in from the outside. In Fayette mall some noticeable holiday shopping trends are creative ads, promotions and sales.
Lots of stores have stands that have the words FREE or SALE in bold, that catch the consumers eye when they are walking by.  Putting these signs up gives the stores an opportunity to showcase all the sales they have available.  Wet Seal did a great job of stationing their signs in the middle of the doorway so that customers walking in have to walk by it.  A lot of businesses will be selling the same holiday products for the Christmas season and need ways to set themselves apart from everyone else in order to gain sales.  In Express they put a sign in the middle of the doorway along with one in their window display and inside their store. Their glitter Christmas decorations were also a fantastic eye catcher for consumers passing by. Every consumer likes a good sale, so by displaying it in the front window of stores it gets people into their stores.

I use my email and mobile alerts to stay in touch with the ever present discounts during the holiday season. I will not entertain an offer or make a purchase if there is not some sort of discount or special. With all of the discounts available it is almost thoughtless to spend a dollar without some sort of reward.

I found this post really helpful since I am such a sucker for the holidays. I love the decorations store put out to make it feel warm and full of spirit. However,as the article says the thing that really gets me are the signs saying for sale out front or in the window display. I just can't help feeling like I'm passing up a huge end of the year deal which is exactly what the store wants me to feel. I can't say I'm still not excited to go roaming around the mall looking for the sales this year though because I am its almost a tradition for me. I love it.

This is all very true! Over the past few years with the poor economy, stores have been displaying their signs in the doorways. They have very bold letters and bright colors. I know that these signs certainly serve their purpose with me. If a store is having a good sale I am WAY more likely to go in and check it out. Good marketing, retailers!

I think the holiday alerts are so helpful because it keeps you informed and in touch with the stores and their awesome deals. I love the bright displays and how stores are decorating with holiday themes as well. Everything truly has me in the mood to rush to stores and do my holiday shopping!

It's going to be really difficult for retailers to get consumers to shop in stores rather than online. The Holidays are my least favorite time to shop. I hate when the mall is crowded because it makes the entire process extremely slow. I hate shopping as it is, let alone not being able to get through to the stores. The only thing that makes me want to go to the mall this season is promotions that aren't online. I hate that retailers don't have the same sales online, because you already have to pay more online for things such as shipping.

I love the Christmas season! It seems like the retailers have been trying extra hard to get people shopping this year. Every time I am in the mall it seems like a new deal is going on, and it also seems like the stores are staying open later. I went to the mall this past Sunday and Macy's and Dillard's were closing at six (with the rest of the mall) and then opening back up at 6:30 and staying open until 11. This was on a Sunday! Thats crazy. I've got to say though, I went back at 6:30 and Macy's was packed, so I'm guessing that they made quite a bit of profit from staying open so late.

Whenever I pass by a store and I see 20-50% off I will always go in that store. I have never been big on going into stores because of a sale, and I hardly ever use coupons but once I had my little girl, I am all about saving money. This holiday season, I have tried to stay away from the mall but if there is any kind of deal sent to my email I will more than likely go to that store.

Most stores are taking advantage of the economy's upward swing and positioning themselves as a place to get a great deal. A lot of stores are offering high percentage-off offers that customers love but have raised the prices of their fall and winter lines to insure a profit. It sounds like trickery but it is more clever than that,Americans have gotten so obsessed with getting a good deal that they have run a lot of people out of business. Raising your initial cost and then offering a "great deal" is as old as time and it seems to be working.

I like to do most of my Christmas shopping online. It is more convenient for me and I know I can get exactly what I am looking for pretty much all the time. Even though I buy most of my gifts online, I do like to go to the mall and shop. The signs and promotions in the door ways definitely catch my attention and I usually always go in just to look around. I usually won't buy anything unless there is some kind of sale so for me seeing a sale is very important.

I absolutely love being in the mall over the holidays. Everything is so festive and cheery and the sales are awesome. Seeing big signs with the words free and half off makes my day since I'm a huge bargain shopper.During the holidays it's pointless to pay full price on anything. Also when everyone is busy buying presents I feel I can buy a few things for myself with these deals! Everyone should certainly take advantage of the holiday sales.

I love the christmas season but do not like the congestion of shopping in the mall. I have done alot of shopping this year online. I receive tons of coupon offers on my phone to utilize when I'm doing my online shopping. I love the convenience of shopping from the comfort of my home whenever I get ready.

I liked this article, because i work at Victoria Secret back home in Ohio, and i know we have large ads outside our store to get people to come in. Also Pink does a good job of sending out promotional coupons to peoples phones in texts so they have to come in and actually purchase the item in the store. But there are so many deals going on this holiday season i can actually afford to get my family something special on a college budget.

I dread going to the mall for Holiday shopping. The sales only make me spend more money because I end up spending the money I save and more on other gifts, and sometimes things for myself. I usually stick to making presents for people, but of course I need to go out and buy supplies so I'll usually just go to Michael's. Of course there are still stores in the mall that grab my attention from window displays. I think that can make or break a store because of the vibe that the store sends to the public just from what's in their windows.

This post is so true! I am such a sucker when I see a sign that says "sale" even if I don't normally go in a store, if it says sale the chances of me walking in are pretty high. This is great marketing by the retailers but I wish I didn't fall for it all the time. During the holidays its good to be aware of sales though and my email is always sending me good sale opportunities that I am always on the look out for!

I love shopping during the holidays! I did so much shopping during black Friday and I can't wait to go home and do some more shopping. Window displays and signs are crucial to getting customers into a store. I love the holiday window displays that are put up in Chicago. I will sometimes walk into a store solely to look at their beautiful displays. It also helps when there are signs with the word "sale" on them. Either way, these are great ways to get customers into their stores and I can't wait to do some serious shopping over the break!

Christmas is my favorite time of year. Not only is getting presents a plus I love shopping for people as well. Although I do not like the Christmas traffic on Nicholasville Road the deals going on inside the mall are totally worth it. The sale signs outside of the stores are very helpful when shopping to give you a heads up that there are deals inside. I havent started Christmas shopping yet but hopefully there will still be great deals when I get around to it.

The Christmas season is my favorite part of the year. Stores go all out each year to make sure your holiday shopping is a great experience. Many store's will promote clearance advertising so people will go out and shop to get the best bargains. During the holiday seasons, stores will always have in-store coupons or discounts so any item you buy will be discounted at a special price for shopping with that store. Holiday shopping is a great way for retailer's to get rid of excess items and clear old racks of inventory.

I think this blog really did a good job of describing the holiday shopping. I work at a store in the mall and I know we work really hard to create the holiday atmosphere in our store. We change a lot about the way we do things. We always have special holiday merchandise and of course the special holiday sales. We also get way more lenient on our policies. We are told during the holiday season to yes to as much as possible because people are way more stressed doing holiday shopping.

I receive several emails a day from retail stores promoting sales online and in store. Its so much easier to just press the link in the email directing me to the store's website to shop than it is to go to the mall to shop. I do agree that stores in the mall are getting creative to get customers into their stores.

I agree that yes, stores every year have to come up with new and innovative ways to get shoppers in and make purchases. With a crappy economy still it's nice to see that stores are offering great sales. I liked that they mentioned that WetSeal has a sale sign in the middle of the entry way. However they have a sale sign up like that 99%of the time. This one probably just has snowflakes on it. I think stores in the mall have done a great job decorating for the season and making it a pleasant experience for shoppers. The fun atmosphere gets them in the gift giving mood.

Online shopping is the best way to compare prices and find the best deals. However, nothing beats Christmas shopping at the mall or your favorite store. The lights and Christmas decorations are usually really pretty, and put you in the Christmas mood. Stores do a great job with their colorful displays, and with large signs for sales at the front of the store. The combination of all these things makes it very easy to browse through the store and find some great deals.

I love holiday shopping and receiving emails from stores about the upcoming sales. I usually will only purchase something if there is a sale. Its stupid to give a retailer more money than I need to. The deals make holiday shopping fun but I do enjoy the decorations too.

It has been hard for me to get into the Christmas shopping mood this year and I have found myself doing a lot more online shopping than I usually do. I have yet to be in the mall yet because I hate fighting the crazy crowds. I would rather pay a little more online then have to fight to find a parking spot, wait in long lines, and search the stores for what I need. I do like finding good deals though so I have a feeling I will be at the mall sometime shortly. Holiday alerts and signs outside of stores are very helpful this time of year because for me personally I will not be going into a store that is not offering some kind of deal. I love giving gifts but shopping is so stressful!

The use of Christmas decorations really makes me want to go into a store.I have been in Express and I just love all their sparkly merchandise and decorations. It really puts me in the Christmas spirit and makes me want to shop there. Any sign with free or sale on it does make me stop and read the sign. It is likely that I'll go in there, but if I don't think it's a good deal or something I don't need or want then I won't. What gets me in the store the most is the use of Christmas displays like Express does though!

The Holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year! What better to put you in the holiday spirit than shopping? Everyone's store is so pretty decorated around this time! I love seeing what stores have to offer around the holidays as far as sales, deals, and new merchandise. To me, this is one of the best times to buy!

It's really easy to get carried away during the holidays, especially when it comes to shopping. I only work part-time, so clearly I need to shop for the best deals around. I really love online shopping because that way I can compare the same product on different websites to find the cheapest price. I think stores are doing a good job of offering deals and specials this time of year, especially with the poor economy. I'm more likely to go into a store if they are advertising someone sort of sale.

I am a big fan of going to the mall no matter if its packed during the holiday season. I don't usually purchase Christmas gifts online because that takes the fun out of it. I do receive e-mails from different stores about their sales but I enjoy getting those sales in the actual store over just buying it on the internet because it makes it les personal.

christmas is a huge holiday and purchasing the right gift is always a little bit better when you find it on sale for s great price. I have an app for most of my favorite stores so i make sure to recieve notifications when there is a sale going on, it's also great because sometimes you get special deals for having the app or even being apart of a club within the retailers company like pink nation with victoria's secret they are always sending me text messages about sales going on or how i can recieve a free item when i purchase something. The bright and sparkly decorations are really attractive to the customers eye so if you can create an interesting display window the better chance you have of getting the consumer into your store. With the mall being extra busy during the holiday season it makes it harder to get customers in your store so where you place teh signs showing what sales you ahve going on are really important. Online shopping is also really great becasue they sometimes offer deals online that you cant get in stores and they have items that you cant sometimes find in stores.

Christmas is my favorite time of year to shop! There are so many sales going on it is hard for me to keep out of the mall. I love all the holiday decordations around the mall I believe it really helps people feel happy and welcomed to be there! I also think the emails we recieve about special sales going on helps out alot because these emails are many times the reason I stop in a certain store. So if stores let people know about sales going on this can contribute to more sales for them!

A lot of stores will email me with their super holiday deals. Most of the time I do not pay attention to them, but during the holidays their can be some really good deals. Going to the mall is crazy during this time of the year. I like to shop online for many of my Christmas gifts. You can find many deals online also.

i think that retailers are really smart putting the signs out in the front of the store and windows. when I'm walking through the mall and see a sign that says 'sale' or 'free', i can't just walk on by..i have to go in. even if customers don't buy anything, its still a great way to get people to recognize your store and maybe reel them in as potential future customers.
