Dear Santa...

Even though many college students are a little too old to be writing letters to Santa, many still make a mental list of what they would love to see under their tree on Christmas morning. The past years have seen a rise in handcrafted gifts, since many students have been on a tight budget. While the economy is starting to look up, this trend is still pretty popular for this season. For those times when you are walking around campus and get a little thirsty, what is a better companion than a nice personalized tumbler? Another good idea would be a decorated ornament or ceramic tile capturing a fun memory with you and a friend. However, for guys getting a tumbler or ornament probably wouldn’t go on the top gifts received that year. Now a warm plate of fresh baked cookies might just do the trick! It is expected this year that we will see a huge rise in baked goods as gifts. After all, they say the quickest way to someone’s heart is through their stomach.
While homemade gifts are still a good choice, this year we will see the comeback of discretionary gifts. With the economy starting to look up, who wouldn’t want to splurge on their loved ones? The more popular gifts include the new E-Readers like the Amazon Kindle and Nook Tablet. For the college freshman new to town, what better gift to see under the tree than a new Garmin or TomTom to make sure they never get lost. And of course the newest IPad, IPhone, or IPod would make the top anyone’s list. But in the end, you can never go wrong with a gift card!

I love receiving a variety of gifts for Christmas as this blog explains. As well as receiving them, I love shopping for gifts as well as crafting them. New blog type sites, such as Pinterest, offer great DIY gift ideas. There is always something new and unique to make for your friends and family. As much fun as this can be, nothing beats going around to all the shops around Christmas time and finding that perfect gift for a friend or family member. This blog does a great job of giving a good variety of ideas for Christmas gifts!

Even though my younger brother and I are a little old for Santa letters, our older sisters both have little boys. We have two nephews who are one this year for Christmas and even though they still don't get the concept, they are old enough to open presents and get excited! Now that we are older, we usually get one big present and some little things. Pretty sure I'm getting the new Ipod touch this year! I'm pretty excited for that and everything else the holiday brings!

Christmas is such a fun time of year, everyone loves receiving gifts and there is nothing better than giving someone a gift that they have had there eye on. This is my favorite parts of this holiday season, being surrounded by friends and family and the gifts that you get to give and receive. As much fun as that is, thinking of gifts is not always easy. This blog has some really great ideas that i will defiantly be using for some of my friends.

I think this is such a great idea. For a while now I have been making gifts for my friends and roommates. Since I moved into a house, my roommates and I have set a budget for our gifts for each other and the best thing for everyone was to create something. In the past I have made blankets for my roommates and baked brownies and cookies for my guy friends. These simple things really put a smile on my friends faces. Also, I have fun crafting things for each of my friends because I can personalize their gift to what they like. Overall, crafting and baking gets me excited for the holidays!

I completely agree with this blog, college students are under a extremely tight budget and I think it is a great idea to get friends handmade gifts because its more thoughtful than materialistic. Also, they can get the nice things from their parents, or family. I think that a trend lately has been making a lot of arts and crafts for gifts.

As much as I love Christmas, I'm not very good at coming up with ideas for Christmas gifts. I dont' know why, I just get this mind block when it comes to shopping for my friends and family. I think that I dwell on it too much by wanting to make sure I give the perfect gift that I over think it. This blog post was helpful in reminding me that little simple gifts, like baked goods, or DIY crafts are always a good route and are usually more appreciated.

I can admit that I totally miss writing letters to Santa. Sending emails with links to my mom is just not the same as writing my letter for Santa. This post had some great ideas for gifts. I always like to get my friends a little something but spending a lot of money on a lot of friends can get expensive. The personalized tumblers and Christmas tree ornaments are great ideas. I actually already planned to make a few of my friends some cute ornaments. Personalized gifts are always some of my favorites because I know the person giving the gift took a lot of time and effort in picking out the gift. Personalized gifts are less common now but I would much rather see a cheaper, personalized gift than a more expensive gift card.

I really like the idea of giving homemade gifts now. It means so much more, and they are so much fun to make. I think with the rise in websites like Pinterest, people are getting more inspiration to do "Do It Yourself" gifts. Its nice to be able to give something really personalized and from the heart. I am excited to see what I end up getting for Christmas, and to see the reactions my friends and family will have to opening my gifts!

I think the personalized and homemade gifts are the most special. It shows that you put time into making someone something and it shows them that they mean a lot to you. Needlepoint belts and key chains are my favorite made gifts to give someone. Yes homemade gifts may take more thought and time but they are very special. I think people are finding ways to give their loved ones gifts that are very nice and useful but not the most expensive.
Merry Christmas!!!

These are all good gift options. I really like the personalized gift ideas. I feel like it shows more thought went into the gift sometimes if it is personalized. The electronic gift ideas are spot on too, it seems like every year there is a new electronic item that is a must have for Christmas. Great ideas!

Small gifts like mugs are always a great gift to give friends when you are on a budget. But I really like to splurge more on my family than friends. This year I am getting my mom the new Kindle and I am excited to give it to her. While it might be easy getting gifts for my mom and sister, my dad and brother are a whole different story. I always seem to be stuck buying something late on Christmas Eve. Boys are just so hard to shop for!

I think making someone a gift is always a great way to get personal over the holiday season! Sometimes buying people a gift card doesn't really have to much time or thought put behind it. I think making gifts for friends and family shows that you were really thinking about them around this time of year. The internet also has so many great sources for ideas, and offer tons of ways to make DIY gifts! This blog does a great job of describing christmas variety.

This year I've been crafting a lot for family and friends. It's such a fun and easy way to give a gift that can be more personal than something bought at a store. Also, the past few years I've baked for extended family and they always seem to really enjoy it! Homemade gifts and baked goods seem to mean more to people because you actually took time out of your day to think about them and make them something instead of just running to the store to grab something generic. I deff think for college students homemade gifts are the way to go!

The Christmas season always gets me excited for giving and receiving gifts! Many gifts that I will be giving this year, as mentioned in the article, will be homemade or personalized for a special added touch. I have gotten many gift and giving ideas from the Pinterest website, where scarves, food platters, and small stocking stuffers are always a hot topic. I don't like to receive or give gifts that have obviously been taken off a store shelf and took less than two minutes to pick up. I like more personalized, more meaningful gifts, that show you really care especially during the holiday season.

I love recieving hommade gifts from friends and family! It shows that they put both thought and creativity into the gift although that doesn't mean a bought gift isn't great! I know that I have made several gifts for friends since the budget is tight in college. I think this is a great and practical blog for students thinking about christmas gifts! I like the suggestion of baking for those people who wouldn't want a hommade picture frame or ornament.
