“The Best in the Lex”

-Trend, Glamour, Class
Lights, camera, fashion!!! Lexington has a lot to offer local fashionistas. Two of my favorite boutiques were Runway Couture (located in Victorian Square) and The Black Market (located on East High Street). The great thing about boutiques is that they always offer great style with a twist! Boutiques tend to be a lot smaller and more aesthetically appealing than your average retail store. If you’re looking for high fashion styles, sleek trendy styles, or just a more compact one on one shopping experience, a boutique would be a great option for you!

The difference in the two boutiques selected was very interesting. Runway Couture offered vibrant and muted color schemes, a variety of fabrics, embellished jeans and accessories, and more of a high fashion (couture) style of clothing. On the contrary, The Black Market exhibited fun, multi-colored schemes (vintage or modern), various types of fabrics, shoes, artwork, and hand-crafted items.   The store appeared to be “simple, vintage, and trendy” regarding the type of clothing they displayed. Whereas, Runway Couture is a place you’d go to for a special event or a night out on the town. Both locations had a small, clean, and organized layout.  The style décor was also fitting to each boutiques store name. If we had to recommend either boutique on a fab or flop basis...we vote fab!!!! Check them out when you can.

I love both of these boutiques. I have always shopped in boutiques and I have to say that both of these are two of my favorite in Lexington. For the products they offer I feel that these boutiques are reasonably priced and offer a large variety of styles that anyone would enjoy. Both have a very unique feel that you can't find in big department stores which is what always draws me to them.

I haven't been to either of these boutiques but I am a huge fan of boutiques. I worked at an upscale boutique in Louisville, KY called Blink Boutique and I have yet to find better customer service in a store. I may be biased, but Blink is so personal with their customers it's no wonder why they keep coming back. Customers we're very familiar with will sometimes call and ask us to pull clothing for them that they may like and we put them in a dressing room just for them. So when they show up, they save time looking, and focus on what works best from what clothing we've pulled. It's great to know our customers trust us and the connection we make with our customers definitely sets us apart from other boutiques. People are willing to pay the high prices for clothing they know looks great on them plus has great quality.

I had a friend visit a few weeks ago and we decided to find some cute boutiques around Lexington and these were two of our stops. I couldn't believe I had never been to either store and that I had heard so little about them. I love both of these boutiques because I feel that they both have a lot to offer their customers. I personally get a little sick of the Fayette Mall. It is a great place to kill some time and maybe get a few essentials but I do not do a majority of my shopping there because it is always so crowded and I feel like I have seen so many of the items before. That is why I love shopping at little boutiques like this. There is hardly ever anyone else there so the customer service is great and the things I find are definitely different than what I could get at the mall.

I've never been to either of these boutiques but I love the feel of shopping in a boutique. It's a lot less merchandise to pick from but the merchandise is all related to a similar style of clothing. Boutiques also have an edge on many chain stores because since they're smaller they tend to offer better customer service. Boutiques can be easier to shop at too because if you go to a big store if can be hard to find certain styles or outfits but most boutique are small enough that it's easy to find what you're looking for. I think boutiques are a trend that are going to becoming increasingly popular over the next few years.

I just recently found Runway Couture and I love it! The style fits mine perfectly. When I was in there for the first time, I thought for sure the prices would be very high. I was really shocked to see that they weren't too high at all! Which is always a plus. I have never been the The Black Market, but I have heard of it. I definitely need to check it out soon. It sounds really cute.

I've passed by these two boutiques and though they are very nice, I'd rather shop at a regular retail store. Boutiques sometimes seem to be too crowded, overflowing with clothing. I like shopping at a mall because if one store doesn't have what I'm looking for, I can just walk a couple steps to the next one. The thing I do like about boutiques are that you get a more personal connection with workers since there won't be as many customers there compared to at a store like Victoria Secret.

I love boutiques! I am from Chicago and we definitely have plenty of them. I always would go to boutiques for my prom dresses because they would guarantee that no one would have the same dress as you. I actually have been to Runway Couture and I love it! Being from Chicago it is really great to find a place where I can get unique clothes that no one else back home will have. I just bought a cute dress from there when Runway Couture had the opportunity to stop by the Pi Phi house. I really love their styles! I have never been to the Black Market but since you gave it such a great review I definitely plan to stop there!

I would have to say boutiques are one of my favorite places to shop! I go to the black market very often and love the unique items they sell. I agree with this article that when you want to find something more trendy or unique boutiques are where to go. Although you may pay a little more at boutiques than you would have lets say the mall I believe it is worth it because of stylish and trendy the pieces are buy are. I believe Lexington has some great boutiques that offer pieces for everyone's liking! I really liked this article because i agree boutiques are a great place to shop!

i absolutely adore The Black Market! I went there for the first time back in August and i think the whole atmosphere of the store is just really cool. They always have unique finds and the shoe selection is awesome! although they aren't shoes you'd wear everyday, they would be cute for special occasions are definitely one of kind. If you are into the whole hipster/vintage vibe i would recommend checking it out for sure!

I love the shopping experience you get when you go to boutiques! I have never been to either of these, but I have had great shopping experiences at other local boutiques. The customer service you receive in a boutique is totally different than in a department store. Sometimes in department stores it is very difficult to find a particular thing you're looking for, but in boutiques it is usually easier to find things. There are always exclusive fashion pieces found in a boutique, and sometimes they even have brands that aren't sold in larger stores.

I really like Black Market. They don't have a lot of quantities of a item so you know that not a lot of people will be sporting the same look as you. Even though you may be paying a little bit more for something than you would at a mall, you're supporting lexington local business. I love the windows that Black Market has. I have never been to the other boutique but I really want to check it out now.

I've been to both of these boutiques and would agree that they are both quality stores. Since Fayette mall isn't much to speak of, these provide a good alternative when looking for stylish clothing or accessories. The bad thing about shopping at chain stores is that a lot of people will all have the same clothes--for instance, three of my friends have the exact same dress from Forever 21. Boutiques minimize the risk of having the exact same outfit as someone else (something I am willing to pay a little extra for). The only issue I have ever had when shopping at these boutiques, especially Black Market, is that I can never find anywhere to park!

I have never been to either of these two places before. When it comes to shopping I don't tend to go much further than the mall, but after reading this post and a few of the comments I would really like to stop by and check it out. I do like to try and find some unique things that not a lot of people have so it seems like these would be a good place to start looking.

I loved reading this article because back home all I shop at is small boutiques. Since coming to lexington i was struggling to find some boutiques and now i know where they are. Also both these places seemed to be priced more on a college students budget, where as some other boutiques are very expensive. Plus i like how these boutiques seem more personal rather than shopping in a large store. You're getting more personal attention.
