NEW UK PLAID PRODUCTS ARE HERE!!!

Walking through the University of Kentucky’s campus, you are bound to see the color blue. Perhaps one of the most recognizable forms in which the color can be seen is in blue plaid, but when and where did this trend start?

About three years ago, a group of Merchandising, Apparel, and Textile students were given a lesson in product development. This lesson turned into the UK Plaid project— the University of Kentucky’s official line of plaid apparel and accessories. Since the UK Plaid line has been introduced, it has quickly grown in popularity. The line has particularly become memorable for it’s signature ID holders and tote bags.

Some of the new products that have been introduced this year include a wristlet, carryall, garment bag, and hobo bag. Interestingly, it appears that a lot of the new products this year are kitchen related. For example, dinner and appetizer plates, napkins, oven mitts, and tea towels were all among the new products introduced. These new products allow the line to reach out to a wide variety of consumers, not just college students. Also, the prices are affordable so everyone can enjoy these unique products!

If interested in purchasing some of UK Plaid’s newest products, they can be found right here on campus at the University and Kennedy Bookstores. These products are exclusive and a must have for all UK fans!

This was one of the smartest merchandising trends that I can remember. Put UK blue on anything and people will buy it. I've seen girls with the tote bags and ID holders all over campus. Now with the addition of kitchen supplies it should open up a whole new market for buyers! I think this trend will continue to develop further and make money all over Lexington. I can't wait to see what they do next!

I have seen these UK plaid products all around campus and I have even purchased some of these products. However, I did not know that the UK plaid was started by a group of students here at UK. I think it is a very smart idea and very trendy. There are so many people, including my mom, who absolutely love the plaid. I am excited to check out some of the newer products and I can only imagine what the future holds for UK plaid products!

I love the UK plaid products! I am personally really excited to look at the new UK hobo bag. The article mentioned how affordable the products are and I agree completely. It is worth the money to have a really cute bag or wallet with the UK blue colors. I think that the new products will also be a huge success.

The UK plaid products are very unique and cute! I do not have a bag yet but I definitely will be purchasing one very soon! It is a very cute idea that these students started doing. I think that it is great that they are reaching out to older crowds with the kitchen products to make more profit, this is an excellent idea. This specific trend, I believe, will be a huge hit for years to come here in Lexington.

This trend is one that I have noticed from walking through campus and shopping at local stores. There are so many products that have the plaid design, anyone can find just about anything that they could want. The products have such a wide range from kitchen supplies to clothing. It is very interesting that this was all started by a group of students, it just shows you that students can develop ideas that can be very successful.

I think that the UK Plaid Project was an awesome idea! I love that our university has it's own unique pattern that the students came up with. I have not bought anything plaid yet, but that's because I can't decide what to buy. I just love all the products! I think it is great they are even making products for the kitchen that will reach a whole new market of people. I do not think the UK Plaid Products are going away anytime soon!

This is definitely a trend that I have noticed around campus. I've seen a bunch of girls carrying these plaid tote bags as their backpacks. I have also seen a lot of girls with the plaid ID holders. I think they did well by attracting more then one crowd by selling tote bags and wallets to kitchen supplies and coffee cups! i cant wait to go and check out all of the plaid they are selling! Im excited to see what they come out with next!

I am not a big fan of plaid but I really think that the UK plaid is cute. I mean if you put UK on something more than likely someone will buy it. I didn't know that the UK plaid was started by students at UK. It kind of makes me want to buy it even more because it is someone like me who thought of it. Girls love the tote bags and freshman love the ID cases so I think its a win win.

The UK plaid accessories are really cute, and a great way to show off UK blue! I bought a plaid ID holder for a reasonable price, and I hope to soon expand my collection. I am excited about the kitchen ware line. That's something everyone needs, and decorating your kitchen in UK blue is always a great idea. In fact, as a UK student, I can never have enough blue! I look forward to seeing more of the MAT students' blue plaid creations in book stores in the near future.

I love UK plaid! I carried my ID in one of the pouches last year and I recently bought two totes for me and my sister. I'm very excited that they are expanding their products and I'll definitely be going to the bookstore soon to get some of them!

This is a great post. I have seen UK plaid all over campus and knew that it was designed as a class project. However, it was really interesting to learn all about the back story. I also find it great that we can see this trend started by students like us blossom from a student fad to a popular print for all with kitchen items coming out. I am excited to see where else the plaid starts popping up in the next few years.

The UK plaid was a great idea for the fall season. People are seen wearing the blue plaid all over campus and it goes nicely with the rest of the blue and white apparel out there. The UK logo on anything blue is an automatic hit and it is an easy seller for UK apparel retailers. Hopefully the plaid design will grow and include many other items. Great success on the UK plaid project.

I think it's awesome that UK has an official print. It's even cooler that it was made by the students. These kind of projects give students a feel for the type of work they could be doing once they graduate. I also like that there are a variety of products that appeal to different consumers. The one thing I really want is the bow tie. I also like that the print isn't something that could still be worn ten years from now.
