FEATHER FRENZY!

Want the latest trend in hair accessories?  This summer and fall’s hottest hair trend is feathers!  These simple and often subtle accessories will make any outfit pop.  Current celebs such as Ke$ha and Stephen Tyler have really brought this once simple accessory into the spotlight.  The best part about the feather pieces is that you make it a look all your own! Whether you want something subtle or something bold, the feather hair accessory is perfect for you!  They are an easy way to take an ordinary hair-do and turn it into a unique look.  They allow you to add a touch of your personality with options in length, size, color and even by adding additional accessories such as beads!

Students all over UK campus love this trend! One student we talked to said she chose bright colors with her feathers because they stand out and create a conversation piece.  She said, “It’s a great icebreaker for the new school year!”   Another student we talked to enjoys that you can be versatile with the style. It easily can go from casual to dressy, and can be incorporated into any style of hair.  Regardless if your hair is curly, wavy, straight, thick or thin, the feathers fall naturally and look great with all styles!
If you prefer to have your feathers professionally put in almost all salons in town are accommodating. Professionally done feathers will last about three months and follow the same process as getting normal extensions.  But if you’re looking for another option, you can also go to local stores around Lexington and purchase clip in feathers so you can change your look everyday!
The price range on this accessory will vary depending upon the salon or store of your choice; however, you can make this trend work on any budget! So whether you’re feeling subtle and simple, or bold and fearless this style is right for you! And with two application methods you can’t go wrong!

I thought this article really captured the fascination with the feather trend. I know many girls personally that have feather extensions and have saw many girls around campus with them. I even have a red feather extension myself. I do agree that they really are a great accessory that can be dressed up or down. My feather extension does not pop out like a pink one would, because it is dark and so is my hair. However, it adds an extra interest and something different without a dramatic change. I also think it shows my personality like they mentioned in the article. It shows I like to accessorize and be a little different, but not too bold.

This article gives a good representation of every different type of girl who wears feather extensions. I agree that some girls wear them for a subtle flash of color or just a change from normal, boring hairstyles. Some girls wear feathers that are more brightly colored and bold. One small detail that was not mentioned was the placement of the feather extensions. There are many different ways to wear the feathers. While the majority of girls wear them on the side of their head, some girls choose to place them behind their ear, closer to their faces, and even in their bangs.

I think the feathers look nice in many different types of hair. I have passed several girls on campus that were rocking the feathers. In the article it said Stephen Tyler has worn the feather in his hair. He has a wild and free enough style to pull it off. If I was to wear the feather in my hair I would get some weird looks. Overall I think the feather looks great on the girls, much better than other trends that have come and gone.

The feather hair accessory is one of my favorite accessories I have seen on campus. Although I would probably never wear one, they are super cute. I have seen so many different types of girls with these feathers and they all look really good! As the article stated, you can wear them casually and they fit well with all different hair types. This makes them interesting because unlike many accessory trends, they aren't just designed for one particular group of people. Anyone can wear them!

I think this article is very on trend. It's definitely something that is being seen everywhere. I myself had some over the summer. They were really easy and cheap. It's a great way to mix up your look a little bit without having to do anything to drastic or permanent.

I felt that this article explored a new trend on campus which I find pretty interesting. Not only have the feather hair extensions been seen this summer but they have become even more popular going into fall. Originally I had only seen the subtle feathers but once the semester started I began seeing all different sizes and colors of feathers, just like this article talked about. I think it is neat to see how different people incorporate the feathers into their look to show their unique style.

I think you hit the latest trend right on the spot. Since I've recently moved back to the states this summer, the feather trend was probably one of the first things I noticed. You can't walk down the street to get a cup of coffee without passing a girl with a feather, or even your server having one! I personally don't have one because my hair is too curly and I always wear it up, but I think it adds a lot of personality to a girl's or even boy's look. It's a nice statement maker without risking too much.

Not only is this trend HUGE on UK's campus, its's everywhere! Tons of girls all over campus are sporting feathers in a variety of colors. The girls who did this article did an awesome job picking this trend because there are so many different styles it fits in. Over the summer I had some but they grew out with my hair so I took them out, but i loved them! They're such a fun accessory because they're so versatile. They allow girls to express themselves without being too dramatic and over the top. Nice choice!

This blog does a nice job in expressing how much of a trend the feather has really became. I work at a cheerleading gym and I can honestly say over half of the athletes have these feathers in their hair. Even some of the kindergartners are rocking their feathers. A lot of people have grown to love the feathers because you can do just about anything with it straighten it, wash it or curl it. I think this is a great accessory that can be worn by just about anyone because of all the different styles the feathers come in.

I've seen several girls wearing feathers all over campus and I love it! The style is so unique and very trendy. I like the color ones more because they can really add to your outfit and personality. It's not very often that girls find something like this that works for all different hair types. I think that is why this trend caught on so fast and will continue to spread.

I absolutely adore this hair trend! I love feathers so i was especially excited when i saw that this was becoming a huge trend all over. i definitely think that it is a great way to add a little quirkiness to any outfit and really make it your own. I like that there's a variety of different kinds too; not only do they make thin ones like the ones shown in the pictures above, but they make thick ones that actually look like feathers. i think that this is a very cool trend and i hope it stays around for a while!

I was surprised to see how big the feather trend was at UK. At my high school this trend became popular when a girl at my school started putting them in her friends hair and the trend caught on quickly! I love this new accessory, I've seen all types of feathers in girls hair and it truly displays each girl's personal style. I would advise everyone to try this hot accessory because it is only temporary!

I am so glad this group chose this accessory because I've seen feathers in girls all over the campus. After, a friend of mine got one done and I saw how great they looked up close I was really impressed with new style. The pictures really show off how you can go more natural looking like my friend had or wild with bright colors. This trend allows girls to add a little more personality to their dos on a daily basis and I find it really impressive. I'm really thinking about trying the style to pep up my hair this semester.

I was happy to see how big the feather trend was here! Im from Bethesda, Maryland and the feathers became very popular about two months ago and at first I thought they were so ugly. Right before i came to Kentucky i decided I loved them and got two! They have so many different colors, sizes and lengths that anyone could pull them off! They are definitely the style now but they will not be in forever!

I am absolutely in LOVE with this trend! Over the summer I worked at Buckle and every time we got feather clips in they would sell out the same day! People really love these, and why wouldn't they?! This trend is very boho chic inspired. I also get a 70s feel from this trend, so I feel like it's definitely a recycled one.

The feather trend was very popular back in the 70's and has made a major come back. It has become a hit with females of all ages. I've noticed that my neices and all of their friends are wearing them. I even went to church and noticed that some of the woman in church are sporting the feathers. The blog did a great job showing how you can switch up your style by adding a colorful feather piece.

I have recently noticed how many people I see around campus having these feathers! They are very cute and can certainly add a bit of flare to an outfit. My hair stylist has just recently got them in her salon and said that they have been selling like crazy. This article was very accurate about the popularity of these simple hair pieces. I look forward to seeing more unique feathers around campus as the semester goes on.

I really love the bohemian look of the feather trend now appearing all over campus. The feathers provide a carefree vibe, while adding to the look of any outfit. A bright color can make an outfit, eye color, or hair highlight really come to life. By adding a subtle or more neutral color feather, anyone can spice up their hair and add a different texture. The diverse lengths, colors, patterns, and now added accessories, allow everyone to personalize their look. Although many people have the feathers, each person's hair looks completely different with these accessories. It is nothing like everyone having the same dress, because the feathers are so unique on their own. With the added diversity of hair, no feather looks the same, and therefore the trend is not a fashion repeat. I really enjoy this trend and hope it continues!
