Placing Bets on Keeneland Fashion

It’s October and for those in the Bluegrass it means one thing: Keeneland has returned! Every year, thousands of UK students and Lexington residents anticipate the start of Keeneland. And if you are going to Keeneland one thing is a must—you have to look good! One of the best things about Keeneland is dressing up! Girls are always in search of the perfect “Keeneland dress.” The equestrian look has been hot recently, making shopping for Keeneland even more fun. Many designers have been inspired by the horse scene with amazing boots, tailored jackets and fun hats. It is easy to see why designers are inspired with the equestrian look. There is something so beautiful and regal about horse racing.
While the fall is fun, it can be slightly restricting when it comes to fashion choices because the weather is often cool and unpredictable. Dresses are always the fashion choice for Keeneland-goers. Unfortunately, the weather in October isn’t always perfect for wearing a cute sundress. In the spring, Keeneland is full of fun dresses and skirts. If the weather is still a bit chilly, a cute cardigan can be both functional and fashionable with a dress. While the warm weather may disappear in the fall but the style doesn’t! Some fun Keeneland trends for fall are cute boots and jackets.  Boots are a fall fashion staple. You can pair your favorite boots with jeans for a more casual look or wear them with a dress and leggings to look a bit more dressy. Boots are also great because it is much cooler in the fall, so girls tend to avoid open-toed shoes. Jackets, scarves and gloves are also great for keeping warm while staying cute.
Ladies aren’t the only ones who get in on the fun Keeneland fashion. Guys want to look good too! For the guys, nice khakis and polo’s will look good but a lot of guys pull out all the stops, wearing ties and nice jackets. Guys are always impressing with their fabulous Keeneland fashion! Keeneland is another opportunity to look great so everyone has to get in on the fun Keeneland fashion!

I'm so glad that fall is finally here. Fall and winter is so much easier to dress for than summer, at least for guys. In the summer your limited to a top and bottom. So it's difficult to look stylish when you limited to a few pieces. Colder temperatures allow you to layer which leaves more room for creativity. You have the option to wear scarves, jackets, coats, etc. So I look forward to seeing what everyone will be wearing the rest of this semester.

I absolutely love going to Keeneland on the weekends in October. This past weekend was great for Keeneland goers with the beautiful weather in the 80s. It is so fun to dress up and look at all of the different styles of dresses every girl is wearing. Unfortunately when the weather gets cooler you don't always get to wear cute dresses because you have to layer up. However, people at Keeneland never miss a beat when it comes to fashion. No matter what the weather is like, people will be stylish and dressed to their best.

This blog did a good job differentiating the different styles found at Keeneland during the fall session and the spring session. Definitely the unpredictable Kentucky weather keeps everyone of their toes as far as figuring out how to stay fashionable but appropriately dressed for the season. Dressing up helps give Keeneland that special atmosphere of a classic Kentucky racetrack. It is always fun to see what everyone ends up wearing to the races and I am excited it is time for Keeneland again!

i love this article! Keeneland is the best time of the year for bluegrass people. they get to dress up as southern bells with they big hats and cute boots, and the boys get to dress in their nice polos and there bows ties. being from missouri, we dont dress like this, for anything! thats why i love dressing like this, because it is different from al my other friends. and my friends say that i am a born southern bell, and i am in the right place.

I liked this article a lot! I think it's great that they made an emphasis on the fact that accessories really make the outfit for events like Keeneland. Everyone looks great at the races, so it's important to really make a statement with all the little details like the boots, scarves, cardis and hats! Working with layers is the perfect way to add style to an ordinary outfit and make it stylish, but still functional in the cooler fall weather!

I love Keeneland fashion! It is so southern and chic. I unfortunately didn't get to make it out to the tracks last weekend but I hope to go sometime soon! I love how formal Keeneland is and how dressed up people get for it. Even when the weather gets cold people are always out sporting the best fashion trends of the season. I can't wait to wear my new riding boots out to Keeneland whenever I get to go.

I have yet to go to Keeneland in my two years at UK. However, I know how major the decision on what to wear is. I actually plan on going to Keeneland tomorrow and reading this was a perfect guide for what I should wear. I have a cute sundress that I was planning on wearing but since it could be chilly I can also pair it with a cute cardigan! The boots are also a great suggestion. They have been so popular this season and look cute with almost anything. After reading this post I am so ready for my day at Keeneland!

I went to Keeneland opening weekend and had a great time, and won a little money! I always like an excuse to get dressed up! The sun shone brightly, making it a perfect day to be outside and enjoy the horse racing. Boots with dresses were a trend I noticed for girls, and I expect to see a lot more boots as the weather gets colder. When that happens, I plan to wear a cute sweater over my dress, just like the article said. The atmosphere of Keeneland was overall very classy, with girls and guys dressed to their very best.

I'm always looking for an excuse to dress up so getting to go out and watch horse races are an added bonus! i personally think that keeneland fashion is cuter in the fall than in the spring...i love dresses with a cute cardigan and a belt, and of course an amazing pair of boots!

I completely agree with the statement of it being hard to find that perfect outfit for Keeneland! I recently went around the mall looking for the ideal dress for the races, I kept thinking that I would get too chilly in almost all the dresses I thought would be cute. The cardigan ideal is perfect for me however because now I can wear the cute sundered I want and still be able to transition it to fall!!

I certainly agree with this article. When going to Keeneland it is definitely a fashion statement. Even the weekends I don’t make it to Keeneland I always catch myself scrolling through my facebook new feed looking at what everyone wore. I think with our age group or at least with my group of friends we go to Keeneland more for the social aspect of it verses the betting aspect. Keeneland is somewhere you would want to dress classy for.

Me and a group of my friends all went to Keeneland today and had a great time! And I did see some of the fashions that were talked about in this post. I noticed a lot more of the equestrian style for the woman, the men pretty much stayed the same with slacks and polos. But I do have to say that Keeneland time in Lexington is probably the most fun time of the year! I love getting dressed up to go out there.

Yes Fall means Keenleand! Keeneland is my favorite part about living down here in lexington.Like the article said it is really fun and exciting to pick out outfits for keeneland. It is one time when girls and guys get to look classy and ellegant. Fall wheather is a little chilly which stinks cause for keeneland you wanna wear dresses and skirts, but we make it work. Im exciting to see if these keenleand styles stay the same or change in furture years.

This was a great blog describing what to wear to keeneland. Its a must to get dressed up if you are going. I think the fact that everyone dresses up makes it that much more nice and elegant and supports the art of horse racing. Its definitely a nice change from going to River Downs all the time. At River Downs its basically just wear whatever cutoff or old clothes you can find. Unfortunately I did not get to go this past weekend to Keeneland but I hope to make it out soon if the weather stays nice.
