Fall into Fashion at Lexington’s Hot Spots

Perhaps the most notorious of all Lexington Hot Spots in the fall, and spring, is Keeneland.  Our local racetrack is steeped in tradition and it shows through fashion.  The beauty of Keeneland is displayed through the dress of the patrons.  It is like taking a step back in time, people still dress to impress.  With the track holding racing in two distinctly different seasons it allows for the Southern flair to reflect through the different styles. 

Downtown Lexington is alive again.  Vibrant nightlife is being transcended with new hot spots.  The most recent addition is Parley Social; a new school twist on an old school ideal.  The prohibition era themed “speakeasy” echoes the same nostalgic characteristics of Keeneland, a place classy enough to be black tie, and comfortable enough for jeans. 

With that being said the leaves aren’t the only thing changing this Fall, fashion trends are beginning to change as well. Where the bright pastel colors of spring were once popular people are now tending to wear a more neutral and earth toned palette. Not only are we seeing this trend happening around campus but in many social hot spots throughout Lexington as well. 

While Keeneland is known for their sophisticated southern charm in fashion we are beginning to see how girls and guys are modifying their look to accommodate this cooler weather. Girls, like those in the above picture, may be throwing their open-toed heels or sandals in for a warmer pair of shoes, like boots or closed toed heels and layering up with a nice cardigan sweater; whereas guys are tossing in their short sleeved polo’s for a long sleeve button up possibly paired with a nice dress coat or sweater to stay warm.

In bars across the downtown area, like Parlay Social, we are seeing this fashion trend start to spread as well. Where dresses, tank tops and shorts were once the more casual go to look of the evening, girls are starting to pull their skinny jeans, boots, and knitted tops out, layering it with a scarf or cardigan; while guys are also choosing to wear sweaters and warmer long sleeved shirts with jeans or dress pants.

So regardless of where you hang out on the weekends, whether it is downtown, around campus, or on the outskirts of Lexington at Keeneland, take the plunge into this changing fashion trend. Embrace the Fall season while looking your best!
