Affordable Restaurants in Lexington

Everyone loves to eat a good meal.  Being a college student however it’s important to be able to eat out on a budget.  Two popular, fun places located on campus are Pazzo’s and the new Hugh Jass Burgers.  They both have great atmospheres, their items are fairly priced, and they’re both right on campus making them very convenient to students.  Pazzo’s is located on the corner of Euclid and South Limestone.  They are known for their fabulous hand-tossed pizza and their affordable prices.  Appetizers, such as garlic bread and cheese sticks, range anywhere from three to six dollars.  Main entrees can include a soup and salad, specialty pizzas, calzones, or hoagies.  There are a lot of options to satisfy everyone’s needs and one could easily eat a nice dinner for under 10 dollars.  They also do weekday lunch specials from 11 am to 3 pm where you can get a jumbo slice of pizza with a soft drink for just $3.50!  And for just $4.50 you can get a jumbo slice of pizza, a soft drink, and a tossed salad.  You can’t beat those prices!

Also, a new addition to UK’s campus is Hugh Jass Burgers.  Located only a few doors down from Pazzo’s.  They’re known for their amazing specialty burgers.  Although a little more pricey, the amazing food and atmosphere is definitely worth it.  The specialty burgers, are 10 oz. juicy fresh burgers that come with one side and a drink.  You can make it a chicken breast or veggie burger and the prices range from $8.99-$9.99.  Or you can build your own burger for $5.29 plus additional pricing with toppings.  If you’re not a burger lover they have many other options such as wings, nachos, soups, and salads ranging anywhere from three to eight dollars depending on what you get.  Since it's opening, the place has always had a steady stream of customers.

Both of these places are restaurants by day and bars by night, so they attract a fun night crowd as well.  Many older students enjoy a night out on campus with friends at an entertaining, nice place!  On Pazzo’s website they have an event schedule that tells you what events are taking place there each month.  You also can be a fan of Hugh Jass Burgers on facebook keeping you updated with what’s going on there as well!  Both of these great restaurants are sure to keep customers stopping in for quite a while.

I highly recommend Pazzos! It was the first restaurant I went to while on campus and I completely agree with the post in that the atmosphere is wonderful. It is very cozy yet entertaining at the same time. The fact that both restaurants function as a bar at night allows them to expand their target market to not only families, but college students and young adults. Obviously it is working!

I would recommend both of these restaurants! These were the first two places I went to on campus and have been back with family and friends. These would be great places to catch a game at night, and get great affordable food at the same time. Hugh Jass has great burgers and sides, but you have to come hungry!

I also would recommend both of these restaurants! I have eaten at both of these places twice and both times were as good as the first. The prices at both places are reasonable, especially Pazzo's. But I think the little extra money at Hugh Jass is definitely worth it. Also their location choice was very smart, considering it is so close to campus. If you go to Hugh Jass you must try their sweet potato fries with marshmellow dipping sauce, it's delicious!

Hugh Jass has become such a popular restaurant and hang out spot. They play great music, the place is upbeat and lively, especially on the weekends, and has an inviting atmosphere. Because it is conveniently located on the corner, it attracts those that may just be passing and looking out for a place to eat for lunch or dinner.

I have never eaten at either place, but they both sound amazing. I have been to Pazzo's on "pint night" and it is always a good time with friends. I did not know that Pazzo's had the 3.50 and 4.50 meal deals, but I will definitely have to check that out very soon!

I would reccomend pazzos! when i went i got a whole thing of breadsticks for $1.25 on their happy hour! You cant beat that especially because it would fill you up! I wouldn't recommend hugh jass however if you dont like burgers and if your picky like me. Another great place that i LOVE is canes! In the coupon book they have a bunch of buy a combo get a combo free which if you split the price with another person its dirt cheap!

Pazzo's is by far one of my favorite places to eat! I really liked how you all brought up the pricing of both places because I have not had a chance to try Hugh Jass yet and I was actually curious about how pricey it is. Also I do like going to Pazzo's at night with friends or after a long week of school. Great topic!

I haven't been to either yet, which is really sad because I grew up in lexington, and I am constantly in the down town area. But now I think I will head on over to north campus and try them, because I have heard nothing but good things about both places.

Pazzo's and Hugh Jass are two great places to eat off campus. Their locations are so convenient, just steps away from the North Campus residence halls, and the student center. The atmosphere and the affordability of both restaurants make them good options for college students. Great job!

I have never been to Pazzo's but am now looking forward to eventually going! Those prices mentioned in the blog, you cannot beat! However, I know a lot of people who like Hugh Jass, but I have personally had better burgers for cheaper prices.

I honestly have never been to either of these restaurants, but I have heard only good things about them. Pazzos I would love to go to, but it's always so crowded so be sure to go there when you can easily get a seat. Hugh Jass seems like a very fun place that a lot of students love to go to, to socialize and have a great meal as well.

I highly recommend Pazzo's!! It is soo tasty and the prices are good, plus the atmosphere is great! I have not tried Hugh Jass, but want to soon. There are many good places to eat on campus and these two are definitely at the top of the list!!

Good Choices on resturants. these are popular places for students to go to and not to mention conveient. Im surprised that you didnt mention Tolly Ho though, as it is right there on the same strip and probably just as popular. I love Pazzo's and would recommend for anyone to go there but i have yet to try Hugh Jass Burgers. But if there are a steady steam of costumers then i should probably check it out for myself sometime soon.

I love both of these restaurants. I think Pazzo's lunch specials are a really good idea and pint night is also a good way to save some money and get a free glass. I like the atmosphere at Hugh Jass, but I don't really want to spend that much on a burger. I think five guys and smashburger are better options and priced about the same.

I have been to Pazzo's before and can honestly say it is delicious. Another thing that Pazzo's does is on sundays you can get one slice of cheese pizza (by the way their slices are huge!) for only $1.25. It's a steal and only on sundays. I have never eaten at Hugh Jass burgers but i hear a lot of talk about it and what to try it out very soon. I live on north campus so they're both very close to me. I enjoy that whole strip of restaurants.

Both Pazzos and Hugh Jass Burgers are great places to eat and hang out with friends. I occasionally go to Pazzos for their lunch specials. Another great place for burgers is Smashburger, located under the Center Court apartment complex.

I am not a pizza person normally but I love going to Pazzo's. They are right the atmosphere is so fun and laid back - a perfect place for college kids and the prices are great. I have only been to Hugh Jass Burgers once and it was a little more pricey and its not as big as Pazzo's but still good.

The post does a good job at projecting both restaurants and they chose two places that I believe are affordable and aimed towards the UK community.

I love Pazzos, I think that it is a UK tradition. Everyone should eat there at least once, and I think it's affordability and wide range of specialty pizzas and beers make it a huge success with students and families alike

Pazzo's is such a great college spot and has good food; it is also very close to campus and has great prices for what you get. I haven't gotten to try Jugh Jass Burger’s yet but I can't wait to go there. It looks like a fun atmosphere to have dinner with friends.

I have been to Pazzo's and it is an amazing restaurant; not only are they famous for their "funky chiken" on pizza and sandwiches. Although, I have not been to Hugh Jass Burgers, I have heard many good things about that restaurant. If these places are too expensive, Cane's is another great, fast restaurant to get a bite to eat.

Your introduction says it all-everyone loves to eat, especially when it doesn't put a whole in your pocket! Both of those restaurants mentioned fit perfectly with the good cost, better taste desire of many college students on a budget. Not only are they both conveniently located, but they are also great choices for the occasional upgrade from typical college quick fix, like McDonalds. I think both Hugh Jass Burgers and Pazzo's will soon become campus favorites especially after Tolly-Ho moves!

This is great information about both of the restaurants. The event schedule and becoming a fan on facebook are nice touches to advertise their restaurants! I also found it helpful to know what they served and the price range, because I haven't tried either of these places but now that I know more about them I want to!

Both of these restaurants are great, I've been going to Pazzo's for years. They also have a very rare selection of beers. HugeJass I've been to a few times since its opening, the nachos there are pretty good! But make sure you have a couple people to share them with.

Reading these posts are making my mouth water! I've haven't been to either restaurant but they bot sound delicious. The fact that they are affordable is also a huge plus. Being a college student defiantly limits your spending abilities and food is something I don't want to find myself spending a ton of money on. I love how you can use your plus money on some of the local restaurants too its very convenient.

I love that they try to make it affordable for college students since they are so close to campus.

I love talking about food! Pazzo's was the first restaurant I went to as a UK student. I love pizaa but I personally like Mellow Mushroom better. As for Huge Jass, I'm not a big burger person but I hope to make it there once this year. This post was helpful with menu choices and prices.

Hugh Jass and Pazzo's are awesome! They both have amazing food for very fair prices and everyone can walk to either of them from campus! The environments of both are super effective. They are fun and welcoming while providing something they can call their own...pizza and burgers! But reguardless, everyone must try Hugh Jass's sweet potato fries!

Both of these restaurants are great places to eat. I had recently been to Pazzo's for the first time and was not disappointed I would recommend both places to anyone. It is also great that Hugh Jass and other local places on campus take Plus Account because that also helps with the college budget it just makes us want to come back for more.

This was an excellent example of why Lexington is such a great college town. Affordable restaurants are just a walk away, and not only are their prices reasonable, but their food is amazing! Both restaurants are in an amazing location, right next to Tolly Ho and Jimmy Johns! Their environments also help add to the whole experience!

Hugh Jass has become so popular since it opened. I'm kind of disappointed that they're closing Tolly Ho because of the recent popularity, but I always have a great time whenever I go to Hugh Jass. And pazzos is so convenient if you want to grab a quick lunch after class. It's cheap and you can get in and out of the restaurant pretty fast.

I think that this is a great post geared towards college students. Of course its nice to know where the closest McD's is to grab something quick of the dollar menu but it is especially nice to know where the hot spots in Lexington are for college students. These two restaurants are delicious, relatively affordable, and very fun for college-age people. I love both of these restaurants and this post is very accurate.

It in my opinion that Pazzo's and Hugh Jass burgers are highly representative of the college atmosphere. Almost everyone on North campus knows where the two are, and have probably tried it. The area is full of great restaurants which add to the college culture. When you walk in you get a variety of people to look at, mostly college students, and an older generation which you cant help but assume are UK fans or previous graduates. I think the restaurants on South limestone are definitely some of the most acclimated to a college town.
