Boutiques in Lexington

Melanie Williams opened The Black Market boutique in 2001.  She has a created a friendly environment providing more than just a shopping experience for customers.  A quaint shop, located on East High Street, she sells clothes, shoes, jewelry, and fun knick knacks.  Melanie sells quality products at the perfect budget for college students.  From cute game day outfits to date party outfits, she provides us with outfits for just about any occasion.  Not only, does she carry women’s cloths, but a few men’s pieces also add to the store.  This boutique has excellent customer service, great prices, and the perfect vintage feel to keep customers coming back for more.

Melanie has told us what she believes to be in style this season.  That style includes layered costume jewelry and cocktail rings that sparkle up those dreary winter days.  Coats that are being used to accessorize an outfit, rather than provide warmth, are essential for this season.  And boots with a rounded toe and chunky heel or mixed media fabrics in shoes also top off any outfit.  All of these items can be found at The Black Market Boutique.  A stop in this boutique should be added to your to do list for this weekend.  Not only will you find great items at great prices, but you will truly have a fascinating shopping experience.

This is the first time I have heard of this boutique in Lexington! The pictures and description made me really interested to stop by and see what the Black Market has to offer. Also, I think it's great that the prices offered are affordable to college students!

I love the Black Market! It offers such a unique style of clothing that you can't find at the mall. Once you purchase something from this store, you will be sure to know that not many people will have the same thing that you do. The only thing I do not like about this store is where it is located. There is hardly ever any parking spaces. That sometimes keep me from shopping here.

I'm from Ohio, so this is the first time i have heard of the black market! It seems like it has alot to offer at a really great price. I love little boutiques like this, so i think i will definately have to go in and check it out!

I have never heard of or been to the Black Market. I am constantly passing boutiques when i drive through Lexington, so this is one I'll be sure to check out. Boutiques like this with reasonable prices are always so much fun to shop in and offer a much more memorable experience than going to a mall.

I have not been in the Black Market. Now knowing that it offers very cute things at reasonable prices makes me want to stop in. With the location being close to UK, I think the price point catering to college students is a wise decision. Can't wait to shop!

What I like about the Black Market as opposed to other stores is the affordability of it. Some of the other boutiques around campus are quite pricey, which keeps most college students from coming back. I enjoyed seeing the pictures in your blog because it gives people who have never been there before and idea of what to expect when entering. Good job!

I've never been to The Black Market, but I'm definitely going to stop by now. I love boutiques because you can find unique, fashion forward things that not everyone else has. A boutique also makes your shopping experience much more personal, and who doesn't like that? Great job!

I have personally never been to The Black Market, but i definitely want to go sometime. The clothes and accessories that they sell there are totally in right now. Vintage is back and its good to have a store that sells all that stuff for men and women. And plus it's not like any other clothing store, it's different and stands out. Pretty soon i'm going to have to make a trip there myself and check it out.

I recently read about The Black Market online and have been extremely interested. After seeing the pictures you posted I definitely want to go. It looks like they have some super cute items and like we said in class, they would be great for gifts! I was afraid that the items would be super expensive but from what everyone has said they seem to be reasonable.

The Black Market is a great boutique in Lexington. I love this store, because it has very unique and cute clothing, accessories, and shoes. Another great factor about the Black Market is that everything is very reasonably priced. Other great boutiques, that are within walking distance from the Black Market include Calypso and Helens. Both of those places are really great stores to shop at too.

I am from Frankfort and in all the years of visiting/living in Lexington I have never heard of or seen the Black Market. But, now that it has been brought to my attention through this post I am extremely interested in visiting! I love little boutiques ... it offers the opportunity to get unique items rather than items at the mall where hundreds of other people could have the same thing. Boutiques always seem to be so quaint as well.

I can't wait to visit :)

I have actually been here with some of my friends before, and they all found items that they really liked, at an affordable price. Melanie Williams seems to have done a great job putting together this little boutique, adding a bit of style to the East High street area. I'll definitely have to make sure to tell my friends to visit the boutique sometime soon!

I've been to the Black Market a few times now. I really like the merchandise in the store and think it is a very cute set up. The item prices aren't too bad for a boutique shop. Other boutiques in Lexington that I enjoy shopping at are Worlds Apart and Bella Rose.

I've never been to this boutique and after reading this blog I definitely need to go check it out. The merchandise looks very cute and the prices are affordable. If I ever need a specific outfit, I'd much rather go to a close-by boutique then travel all the way to the mall. It's more convenient and the prices are reasonable!

This place looks just like the Francesca's in louisville that I love! I will definitely have to go there and its the kind of store that is right up my alley. However, I do wish there would have another boutique in the blog as well because I know there is more in lexington besides this cute place!

I am glad this post spotlighted the Black Market. I have never been there before but will be sure to stop by soon, especially with the mention of affordable prices. Usually when I hear the word boutique I automatically think unreasonable prices. For a location that is great on campus it does not help the store that it has a terrible parking situation. Also, boutiques have to be great at marketing in tough economic times or they may find themselves out of business like Helen's just around the corner from Black Market.

The Black Market is one of my favorite boutiques in Lexington, I have bough many things there, my latest purchuse was an old locked trunk without a key! Its pretty neat, I am not going to lie. I think that The Black Market does a great job of prediction whats comming in for the season, it will be interesting to see if they hit this season right on the target!

I've never been to The Black Market, but i definitely will check it out. the shopping in lexington doesn't seem to have much but the smaller boutiques are very cute. I recently went to Helens and Mod boutique. They were both very cute but a little too expensive. I will make a trip over to The Black Market very soon!

I had never even heard of The Black Market until reading this article! I will definitely have to make a trip over to check it out. Boutiques are so great because you know there are not 100 other people out there wearing the same sweater or same pair of earrings. Usually you have to pay a little bit more in these retailers, so it's great to hear that she has such affordable items.

I've never heard of this boutique before but this post has raised some interest for me. One of the cool things about smaller, locally owned stores is the opportunity to get some unique items that not many other people have. I plan on stopping by this place if I'm in the area.

This is different from any store I've seen before. Probably because its a boutique and it has a vintage store layout. I like the fact that it has good customer service as you claimed, thats always a plus.

I had never heard of this boutique. From the merchandise i have seen in the pictures and the low prices, I would definatly go here looking for brithday presents or something for a certain occasion.

Black Market is one of my absolute FAVORITE boutiques here in Lexington. It has such a great vintage vibe that compliments my personal style perfectly. I have such respect for the employees seeing that they have worked hard to market a refreshingly unique sense of style to a seemingly not-so-unique crowd here in Lexington.

This post was so well written and helpful! I've never been there, but Black Market is definitely a store I will be exploring in the future! From the pictures, it seems like a store that has a welcoming, unique layout, which I’m sure helps to draw customers in. Their products seem very distinctive selection of products but yet a variety of merchandise.

The Black Market seems like a great place for college students to shop. Although I haven't been to the store, I am surely going to have to take a stop by. Finding a store with affordable fashion besides the mall is great. I normally don't have time to go to store to store looking for a outfit. But this boutique has a wide variety of items I can purchase.

I always like finding new places to shop in Lexington since im not from Kentucky, and the shopping is not the best to experience here.

The owner does a good job at finding quality clothes, while still being able to be offer them at a reasonable price. I like this store because the clothes and jewlery in the store you cant really find anywhere else in town!

I have never heard of this place before. It looks really neat on the inside; a place that has a warming, welcoming feel. It's nice that their clothes are affordable because I know boutiques can be a little more expensive. It's cool that the owner gave you all some tips of what's in style right now too.
