Homecoming Concert

On Thursday October 21st, the campus was eager to welcome two famous guests to perform a concert! The guest that were putting on the concert were Jason Derulo, and B.O.B. It was the concert everyone had been talking about since September, and it had finally come. It’s no fun to go and get a ticket by yourself, so it’s very usual for a huge group of people to get tickets and go to the concert together! The picture above shows a big group about ready to leave for the concert. The attire for the concert was lots of boots and jeans, as well as dresses with boots to begin the fall season. The guys at the concert were wearing jeans as well with either a nice button down plaid shirt, or a concert tee to add to the feel of being at a concert. It wasn’t a dressy concert, just a fun concert that let you enjoy the concert while looking comfortable yet fashionable!

The atmosphere of the concert was intense! Everyone was standing up in the upper levels, while the people on the floor were all gathered as close to the stage as possible. Jason Derulo as well as B.O.B. were very energetic performers who made staying to the very end of the concert worthwhile. The picture above shows Jason Derulo singing his song Ridin’ Solo (the non acoustic version), while doing one of his many dance numbers. His great dance moves really got the crowd pumped up to see what was going to come next! After talking to people after the concert and seeing what their favorite part was, or who they thought was the best performer, many people said they loved how Jason Derulo did Ridin’ Solo acoustic, but thought that B.O.B was the better performer that night. All in all, the concert was an overall success, and this is a great way for the University of Kentucky to keep up with the students interests by having big performers come and put on a concert. Hopefully, concerts like this continue throughout the years!

I didn't know about this concert but it sounds like it was fun. Going to concerts is a great alternative to the regular things that we constantly do at Uk, like parties.

The concert was so awesome!! I had so much fun. Most of the girls were in cute outfits or in a dress with heels. The guys supported the more casual/comfy look. I think concerts like this one gets the students pumped for homecoming week and definitely should be continued in the future.

I think its great that the University of Kentucky brings concerts like this to the campus, they really understand that student sometimes need a release and this was a fun way to get not only involved in campus, but also get away from the books for a night and spend time with friends. I heard the concert was amazing as the performers always are when they come to U.K. to entertain us. I wish i could have gone! They pictures are awesome and really show how much fun the concert really was.

It was one of the best concerts I've been to at UK. I was on the floor and the energy was amazing! I had so much fun. Dressing for a concert during the fall is hard because it's cooler outside, but when you're inside it gets hot very quickly. I think the boots and dress combo is a nice in-between style suitable for the season and appropriate as a concert attire!

I attended the concert and it was so much fun! I had pretty good seats and had an amazing view of the stage. Although i wish i had been on the floor because people seemed to be having such a great time dancing on the floor so close to the stage. I saw so many girls dressed in boots, jeans, and a cute top. Which was a perfect outfit because it was so hot inside. Jason and B.O.B also had some interesting style choices. Jason decided to not wear a shirt for half the concert which most all the girls loved and B.O,B had some interesting suspenders attached to his jeans. It was an excellent show!

I didn't get to go because of a prior commitment conflict but almost every other girl on my hall did. They were dressed to impress that's for sure from skinny jeans and a nice top to dresses and heels. The guys that were in their group going wore more dressed down looks some in tshirts and others in casual button downs without a tie. From what I've heard; this was an amaaaazing concert and with the huge turn out I think it would be a great asset for UK to continue in the future.

I didn't go to the concert but a lot of my friends did, and they had a blast. From what I have heard they agree that BOB was the better performance of the night. One of my fiends even got to dance with some basketball players! granted she had no idea what their names where... But it seemed like everyone had fun

I bought a ticket, but I wasn't able to go. I live in Blazer, so I got to see everyone on their way over to Memorial Colliseum, and they looked great. I heard the concert was a big hit, and I kind of now regret not going, but at least I saved some money!

I love the combination of dresses and boots, especially for a concert, thats alsmost always what I wear to them. While I didn't go to the concert I'm sure it was amazing and I think UK should continue to do concerts here on campus!

I am so jealous I didn't get to go to this concert! I tried to get tickets but they were sold out on campus and even at Kroger! I heard it was very very fun and alot of my friends went! I wish more concerts like this would come to campus! I love Jason and B.O.B!

I didn't get a chance to go to the concert but I bet it was fun. I do not know who Jason Derulo is but I would have loved to see B.O.B perform. I heard that he was a really good performer, and it was also mentioned in this blog.

This concert seemed like a great time. It looks like you got a great picture of the performance. I really like how student government finds the importance to bring entertainment to the school. It also makes homecoming more exciting for the students and gives us something else to do.

I went to the Homecoming concert and it was SO much fun! there were so many people which made it hot in memorial coliseum but it didn't matter because B.O.B. and Jason Derulo made it worth it!

I like that UK involves the students of the concert committee to decide what artists to bring to UK. When big time acts come to Lexington and perform in Memorial Coliseum it shows that they really want to do something for the students because some groups think they are "too good" for a college concert or a small venue that holds way less people than their typical concert. I heard that the concert was great and hope that we can continue to get great artists at UK.

We are so lucky that UK is large enough to bring major performers to campus. Everyone was raving about the concert for days, talking about how much fun it was. I didn't get tickets, but the girls on my floor who went were dressed to the nines in their ankle boots and mini dresses!

I personally went to the concert and had a fabulous time! It was totally wore waiting 3 hours in line for and being 3rd row center in the upper level! Both artists were amazing! I also completely agree with the fashion trends as far as what people were to the concert. I myself wore a one-shoulder shirt with boots, but still kept it casual with jeans.

It sounds like this concert was a good time. As a B.o.B fan I was hoping to be able to make it but tickets sold out rather quickly because of the popularity of these stars. Let us hope that performers of this magnitude continue making stops in Lexington.

I think it's great to see that some of the most popular artists at this time are coming to our school; I hope this becomes an ongoing trend, and more artists continue this! It's also great to see that our school always goes big- filling up all of Memorial! And even better, it looks like we are doing this with style; I love the look of boots and dresses as shown in the picture above. Boots are so multi-dimentional in that they can be worn with jeans, dresses, skirts or leggings. I love that look!

I really wish I would have gotten a ticket to this concert. I love B.O.B and Jason Derulo, but when I heard about the concert tickets were already sold out. I think it's great that UK keeps up with student interests and I hope they continue to have big performers come. It's a great way for students to take a break from school, go out with friends, and enjoy some good music.

This concert was a great way to give students a break from studying for midterms and excited for homecoming. I had a great time and will definitely keep attending the concerts held here at UK. Some girls got really dressed up like in heels, but I decided to go with a more comfortable look by wearing a nice top with jeans and boots.

Although I did not attend the concert, due to my lack of interest in the genre of music Jason Derulo and B.O.B are but I did see the many students heading to memorial to the event. Everyone dressed in the typical concert attire, comfortable and flashy. I love that everyone had such a great experience. UK really has stepped up this year with a good choice that reached out to many students. The Student activities board had many great selections. Im ready for next years concert for sure.

Though I was not at the concert, I did find it interesting that these two well known performers would come to Lexington to perform. A few of my friend who went to the show, said that Jason Derulo was not very good, but I suppose it is all a matter of opinion. Hopefully this will help next year in bringing more popular musicians to the university for Homecoming!

I did not attend this concert but I did go to the Drake concert last spring and it was amazing! UK does a nice job of getting recent artists to perform on campus at a decent price for students. It is also a nice change from typical hangout events for students and is a great time. I hope to see more artists in the future at concerts on campus.

Sadly, I did not have a ticket but think that this is great to have concerts like this for university students. I transferred from Alabama and this is my first semester at UK and I am sad that I missed this big concert but hope to attend some in the future!

I unfortunately wasn't able to attend this concert, but I have several friends who went and they said nothing about great things about it! I attempted to get tickets, but the wait in the line was 3 hours long! So, I too am a fan of B.O.B. and Jason Derulo and would have very much enjoyed the concert I am sure.

I attended the concert last Thursday night and it was awesome !! I was in the second row right in front of the stage. i had the best time and have to agree with the post that BOB was the better performer of the night, although Jason Derulo was very entertaining as well. I hope UK keeps bringing in some big name artist, it gives the school a good rep!

I attended this concert with one of my friends and it was so much fun! I absouletely love b.o.b and jason derulo so i was so happy that i was able to go! I sat up in the stands but i didnt think it mattered because i could still see everything. I agree with how the best part was when jason derulo sang ridin solo acoustic but also the normal way, but that b.o.b was also the better singer that night. I really hope that more come in the future!

I got to go to this concert and it was a lot of fun. I had a floor ticket I was very close to the stage. I didn't know many of B.O.B's songs so I personally liked Jason Derulo better but I thought both were great. Jason Derulo definitely seemed like a modern day Michael Jackson from his dance moves to his clothing, it was really impressive. I can't wait to see the future artists UK has to come.

I attended this concert and thought it was a great way to kick of homecoming weekend. I personally thought Jason Derulo was the better performance of the night. It was interesting to see everyones outfits for the concert. There was a wide range from casual to dressy but everyone looked amazing.

Concerts such as this one are a perfect way for students to relieve stress and take a break from the stressful school week. I am thankful that the University of Kentucky has the ability and funding to hire these performers to entertain their students and that they take the time to ask the students who they wish to have come perform via a survey at the beginning of the year. SAB does a fantastic job with all their events, including this homecoming concert.

I really had no idea there was a concert going on at UK last week, especially with such big name acts. Where was any advertising for it?? From the photos in the blog it looked like the show was fun. But i disagree with this statement in the blog "It’s no fun to go and get a ticket by yourself, so it’s very usual for a huge group of people to get tickets and go to the concert together!" Going to a concert alone can actually be way more fun than going with a group. I do it on the reg and always have a great time meeting other fans and dancing. You all should try it!

Although I wasn't able to attend the concert, I have heard great feedback from several of my friends that went. Seeing that you really didn't have to dress up would have made the experience better for me. Since I wouldn't have to go searching for a new outfit. Hopefully next year there will be someone that I listen to and is a great performer.

I attended the Drake concert last year so I had no doubts that this one wouldnt be as good. The vaule of the tickets are also a plus for us to be college students on a budget.

I had so much fun at the concert! It's always fun to get a big group of friends like the article says and go together. Most of my friends wore dresses to the concert, which was fine inside because it was hotter than ever! But made for a chilly walk back home. I agree with the article too, I think that B.O.B was the better performer but I enjoy both of them!
