Keeneland Fall Trends

As you walk into Keeneland, the first things you might notice are the horses, the jockeys, or which of your friends are there, but for some it’s all about the clothes. This is the place where you’ll find all of the latest fashionable trends.

For the ladies, there are several different routes that you can take when trying to decide what you should wear to this occasion. During the spring, most girls chose the all too well-know, Lily Pulitzer dress, but in the fall you will see many other options. Although you still might find a few people wearing dresses, the “in” thing to do now is to wear a skirt with a shirt or blouse and some type of heels or boot. The boot seems to be the more comfortable choice if you’re planning on walking back and forth between the betting window to the track.

Now, for the guys. They have a little bit of an easier choice when it comes to their outfits and they still might worry about it as much as the girls! But most of the time you’ll see them in khaki pants, a button-up shirt, a tie or bow-tie, and possibly a sport jacket depending on the forecast for that particular day.

Whatever you decide to wear, you’re guaranteed to have a great time at one of Kentucky’s greatest traditions!

You all did a nice job of explaining the different outfit choices that are Keeneland appropriate, but I would have liked to see pictures of things people are wearing. Also I enjoyed reading about how boots are big right now because I have been wearing mine to Keeneland as well. That is just too much walking around for me to wear heels! Great job

Boots are a major trend right now, as well as the high-waisted skirt with a cute top. You can always count on seeing girls wearing that outfit to keenelend. Boots are alot more comfortable than tall heels, especially if you are one to walk around alot while at Keenelend. The guy's trends for clothing never really change all that much.

I like how this post captured a different side of Keeneland and actually showed the races. Ideally this is what it is suppose to be about, but it still comes together as a huge social gathering where you can get dressed up, enjoy the horses and family and friends.

This blog did a good job at describing what the "in" trend is for girls. I know in the past i always wore the tall heels with my dress or skirt, but now i am going for the boots. It is much more comfortable and makes for a more relaxing day at the track.

Yep, i am definitely wearing my boots at keenland. Not only are they more comfortable but they are also warmer and make me feel a little bit more casual when im at Keenland trying to have a good time with my freinds. Yes, i want my dress to be classy and nice but the boots are a good spin on the outfit. I also norticed that there are A LOT of boots this season with a heel or a wedge in them so maybe these shoes are a good option for both a boot and a heel at Keenland! My outfit at Keenland definitely can make or break my day.

Being a guy is so much easier when it comes to wardrobe. Button up shirt, pants, and Sperry, but hey that's the fun part of being a girl. Having different options to wear, instead of wearing the 4inch heels and sitting down for most of the race it more comfortable to wear boots and be able to walk around and socialize and bet on horses. So if you do win the money u won can go towards another outfit.

I agree, Keeneland is a great time no matter what you are wearing! Girls always seem to choose to wear heels, incluing myself, and I always end up regretting it because you are walking constantly. Beauty is pain though I guess! People always have the cutest outfits at Keeneland, even the boys, and I love seeing what people choose to come out in!

I like how this explains what is fashionable, but also suitable for Keeneland. While wearing heels around town is fun, I agree that boots are a lot easier for a horse race, and is still a big trend. Sometimes we get so caught up in the fashion at Keeneland that we forget the main point of the races. There is a big difference between going out clothes and something you would wear to Keeneland.

I wear boots and a dress to keeneland every time i go! It's an awesome way to look cute and keep a little bit warm at the same time. Awesome picture of the races!

Fashion is as popular at Keeneland as placing bets. I think the trend of boots this year is smart because there is generally a lot of walking involved and heels are just a pain. Great pictures of the races.

I have noticed the boot and skirt trend this season, and I love it! In the past, girls would wear dresses with heels, and over time it would get very uncomfortable. The flat boots are such a big trend right now, and it leaves you comfortable to walk around Keeneland!

These are dead on about the popular trends around Keeneland. So many girls are wearing boots and skirts this fall season. For the guys, a button-up and tie or bow tie are really popular. Fashion is one of the main aspects that make up Keeneland, and it's one of the most interesting things to watch for when you are there.

Keeneland seems to be the best place to go in Lexington to see some fashionable trends. From head to toe, whether its a hat or the shoes.

I love that y'all went into detail describing the different types of trends. Now this is not only a blog post but a little guideline as to what and what not to wear to Keeneland fall 2010 season!! Very nicely done :)

I have yet to attend Keenland, and mostly because I don't know what to wear! This was very informative and creative blog. Hopefully I'll have time to go soon, and now I won't be so hesitant when looking inside my closet!

I agree with the women's Keeneland fall trend one hundred percent! The skirts with a top or a sun dress are huge there this fall. But the one that really stands out to me are the boots. You see boots everywhere this time of year, and Keeneland is a great place to sport your cute, new fall boot!

Awesome job describing all of the trends. I too wear my riding boots religiously to Keeneland! I also love the bow tie trend for guys, you can't go wrong with that.

I always like to people watch with my friends and family when we go to Keenland. We are constantly looking at people’s outfits and pointing out trends or looks that we like. I have definitely seen a lot of Lilly Pulitzer around Lexington and at Keenland especially. It is an iconic brand that has such unique fabrics. You can easily pick someone out of a crowd when they’re wearing a Lilly dress.

I always love waking up on the weekends and getting ready with all my girl friends. We always meet up at a common house and get ready to head out to the races. No matter what you decide to wear whether your a guy or a girl, dressing to impress is always fun!

I like that everyone dresses up for Keeneland because it really adds to the charm of the track. As a guy, I like going to Keeneland because I can wear flashier ties that may not be as appropriate in a business setting. I agree with your statement that no matter what you wear, you will always have fun at the track.

going to keenland the exspected thing for a girl to wear is a skirt and a dressy top or a dress. but if you change it up and wear casual boots and a nice jacket with a skirt it might look good as well. and this was totally correct about what boys wear, its an easy occasion for them to dress for.

Boots are definitely in this time of year and Keeneland is a perfect place to show them off. I like how you guys stated that no matter what you wore that you would still have a great time at keeneland...and this is true. As long as your comfortable in what your wearing your bound to have a great time.

I definitely think guys have an easier time selecting a Keeneland outfit than the ladies. I wouldn't know first hand but I suspect it is one of those things they debate back and forth over in their heads or ask a friend for advice. As a guy I find it nice to be able to throw on a pair of slacks and dress shoes and then select whatever color of button down and tie combination without giving it much thought.

I love how the bow ties are back! and I want them to stay. I feel like it makes a guy look classy but at he same time show that he has almost a funny side to him. I love that boots are a big this this season, I love them because you can look dressy with a cute pair of boots or pull off a more casual look.

I am planning on wearing something more appropriate for the weather because its going to be a little cooler. I am so excited to experience on of Kentucky's greatest traditions :)

Love the picture!! The explination of the attire for girls is so true! When I attend Keeneland, I love pulling my boots out (only for the Fall, of course), it's very season appropriate!

I think this is a very accurate description of the trends at Keeneland, but there's no picture to show what the trends actually look like. I'm glad looks have turned more conservative and aren't so dressy during the day. (like boots with a dress instead of heels)

All these comments about Keeneland make me want to go so bad! I think it's easier to pick something out to where in the spring for girls and more fun. Because it's usually a fun bright looking dress and could be paired with a hat. In the winter it a skirt and classy shirt look very well accented with boots which is also a good look. And guys even though they usually always where the khaki's with a button up or tie always know how to dress to impress.

I think wearing boots to Keeneland is such a great idea because they're so comfortable. I couldn't imagine walking around there all day in stilettos, that would be so painful. I like that this blog describes both girls and guys fashion to wear to Keneeland, and all the many options.

I went to keeneland last weekend and i saw alot of girls in the styles that you talked about! I saw alot of girls wearing dresses with the cute boots and then some wearing skirts with heels. I love the look with the boots and really want a pair for fall! I also love that the boys get so dressed up for this occasion as well!

I totally agree! I've been to Kenneland 3 times this season and love it! Thats definitely valid as far as the fashion trends. That is what I've worn as well as my friends and what I've seen other people wearing. I hope that everyone gets to go to Kenneland sometime this weekend before it closes Saturday!

I agree with the fashion trends for girls. I've been to Keeneland this season and that is what you see most ladies wearing. The boots are a comfortable way to still be in fashion. As far as the guys - the process of picking an outfit seems to be much easier for them. Great post!

This post describes Keeneland very well, for this fall. You see a lot of dresses or skirts with boots. A lot of girls are trading in the tall heels for boots. It so much more comfortable and instead of worrying about how bad your feet hurt, you can focus more on the races and hanging out with friends and family. Very nice picture of the race!

This post on Keeneland highlights the trends for girls and boys. I wish it included specific pictures of outfits like the previous posts. The skirts and boots are a good trend I have seen a lot this fall meet. I kind of think that the boys trends never really change- they are lucky they don't have to shop as much as girls! No matter what you wear, as long as it is a traditional and classy look you will fit in at Keeneland.

Keeneland is always a good time. Its unfortunate that winter is approaching and the last day of keeneland is probably today. The outfits you stated were spot on and its always easier for guys to be dressed up for a day at Keeneland.

I love seeing all the different trends for keenland! I think dressing up makes the horse track experience! I can't wait to see what the trends will be for the spring at Keenland. I'm sure there will be very cute sundresses as always.I really like the guys wearing bow ties so they should keep that up!

I've noticed that boots are a huge trend this fall. It would have been nice to include a couple picture of different ways to work this trend. On days like today, when it is cooler outside it can be harder to dress for an occasion like this, especially for girls.

Keeneland is like its own fashion show. The outfits are always so cute and classy. Fall Keeneland is a fashion show for trends in fall. You can notice that this years fall trends are boots and fall darker colors. I can not wait for Keeneland in the spring and see all the spring trends!

I absolutely love Keenland and its fashion. Its very modern but yet somewhat eccentric. I love this picture because it shows the horses and the race, fashion spreads as far as the spectators, to the employees, jockeys, and even horses. Everyone and thing is affected. Its such a beautiful sport and a beautiful picture.

I loved how you explained all the trends of people at Keeneland, and I love that boots are in. They are definatly my favorite part about fall. More pictures would have been better to see what people wear.

I absolutely ove Keeneland! You all spotted the trends and you are so right on. I love boots and thats why fall is my favorite season. I think Keeneland should last longer because it's such a great way to meet people and i love dressing up!

This post did a good job at describing the looks for both guys and girls, but i would have also liked to see more pictures of the outfits. I got to go to Keeneland a few times during this meet an I always love seeing what people are wearing! cant wait until the spring meet!

I agree-I think fashion comes in at a close second to the horseracing! During my visits at Keeneland, I saw a lot of boots, both heeled and flat, matched with dresses, particularly a lot of black dresses with brown boots! Excluding few, boots typically seem to be more comfortable that heels when walking around Keeneland. As for the guys, I think khakis were definitely the choice of pant this season. Khakis matched with a button down and layered with a sweater seemed to be a growing trend as well, but a button down and dress pant will always do the job!

I love how everyone gets so dressed up for Keeneland! I also love the look of everyone in there dresses and boots!! The boys all look very nice in there button down shirts as well
