Beaux Arts Fall Ball Recap #2

With the tidings of most major holidays, comes a major celebration. In the Lexington area, one of the largest of them all is Beaux Arts Fall Ball, held at Buster’s Billiards and Backroom on October 30th, 2010. The second annual Fall Ball is regarded as Lexington’s largest costume party. It is a charity event for the Beaux Arts Foundation, raising over $50,000 dollars a year to go to local charities and philanthropies in the community. The ball housed many local and international musical artist this year including: Milyoo, Nemo, Fair Heron, Le Castle Vania, and the Chaotic good. The chaotic good included a robot (pictured above) built by one of its own members that moves in synch to any beat of music.

The most interesting part of Beaux Arts Ball is its mission to purpose the expression of all personalities within the costumes. Beaux Arts officials give no dress codes or restrictions in costume wear because it would have rendered creativity. The foundation in its self has donated thousands of dollars since the 1900’s to keep the arts alive. Throughout the night you could have seen anything from feathered bikinis, Donnie Darko characters, altered animals and self-created costumes showing styles from edgy, to crazy, to completely outrageous. Pictured above are multiple party-goers ranging from Indians, to Alice in Wonderland characters. In all, the Beaux Arts Fall Ball 2010 was an event hosting over 1,000 people for a creative, charitable and most notably, enjoyable cause.

I love that this event served the dual function of raising money for charity and letting individuals express their creativity. Thought this is a fairly young event, they seem to have well developed ideas such as having local and international musicians. I look forward to attending this event next year!

I will most definitely be at this event in the spring! I regret not making it to the Halloween themed party because I'm sure this is the place to go to see the biggest and best costume ideas! I love the fact that the majority make their own costumes! The robot in the picture is so neat and extremely interesting that someone made it themselves! I can't wait for the next ball!

This event seems like so much fun! and i love how it has become one of the largest events Lexington puts on and is served for multiple purposes such as local charities and philanthropies and its mission to let individuals express their personalities within their costumes.

Like the last blog about this i soooo wish i could go to this! It seems so much fun and i feel i would enjoy it. I like how the money goes to charity, that's very thoughtful and speaks out for the community and UK. Also i think it's cool how there are no rules or restrictions for the outfits or dress code. That means you can go all out, wear whatever outfit you want and no one can say anything. Just wear what you want!

I had no idea that his was a fundraising event. That makes it even more special and everyone should for sure attend. I love it when people host events that not only help out others by raising money but also provide a good time for those who attend. Can’t wait to attend this event to not only have a good time with friends but also to help out the charity they are raising money for!

Making the ball a charitable event was an excellent idea! Being that the attendance was roughly 1,000 people, it sounds like they had an exceptional turnout, making $50,000. I would be interested in knowing where this money comes from; whether it's admission, drinks, food, etc. Hopefully the event will attract more college students and other local residents in the upcoming years, potentially generating an even greater amount of donations!

This is a great way to support the arts and local charities as well as have a great time listening to music. Getting to wear a costume, with no restrictions can be somewhat risky, but also a lot of fun. I think it would be really neat to check out everyone's costumes. I would really like to attend this next year. It sounds like a blast!

I went to the Beaux Arts Ball this year and it was so much fun! I loved making our costumes and getting ready to go! We were the "neon Indians" and we made outfits and used neon feathers to make everything. We had neon bodypaint that glowed in blacklights and were covered in glow sticks. My boyfriend even went all out and just wore a neon feather covered loin cloth! It was such a good time! Can't wait for the spring ball!

I am currently taking an art class and my professor constantly reminds us how art is not being appreciated as much as it used to be. I love the idea of funding the arts program. It really is something that is unlooked at and it's great to see people coming out to support it.

That robot is literally the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life. I remember last year at the Beaux Art Ball, The Chaotic Good brought the same robot. I remember hearing people talking about a robot being present, but no one was sure what to expect. About halfway through the show a 15 foot tall robot walked across the stage and absolutely brought the house down. Everyone went wild. Beaux's is a great experience and a great place to see all kinds of interesting costumes.

When I read the other blog about the ball, I didn't realize it was a charity. That makes this event way more cool in my opinion! That's so awesome that they raised so much money and it is done by a simple Halloween Party. Based off the good reviews of this event, I definitely want to give it a try next year. Dressing up, dancing, and music all in one sounds amazing!

I know that Beaux Arts Ball was one of the most unique and fun events this time of year! I was unable to attend but was unaware that there is another event in the spring. My roommate was able to make it and told me a lot about it. I think this is a great way to demonstrate interest in the arts and really show creativity. I also think its great that they raised as much money as they did and had no idea how beneficial it was for charity.
