Trends Around Lexington

Like any other season, fall trends revolve around the weather. Students on UK’s campus should already be aware of this fact. It may be tough to still look nice while the cold air is coming your way on your way to class, but it’s do-able. The best way many students have been adjusting to the season is by wearing thick scarves, layering their clothing and throwing on a pair of boots. In this picture the student has did just that. Almost every girl on the campus has on some type of accessory; it can range from a thin necklace to a ring with a large flower on many female students added flare to her ensemble with bold jewelry. Accessorizing any outfit makes it look better.
In the photo above, the young guy at the bookstore really stood out. His jacket had a military inspiration, and his twill trousers turned out to be a piece he'd acquired from the 70's.  To top it all off, he had a super cool mod pair of clear D&G glasses. His combination of dress with casual definitely stood out. The look was great because he wore it so comfortably and undoubtedly made it his own.

Layering this season is definitely going to help everyone stay warm, but also still look fashionable. Ugg boots and Northface jackets are popular among the girls, while boys tend to wear casual sweatshirts and tennis shoes. Scarves and gloves are becoming more popular as the temperature decreases in Lexington.

It is so hard to be cute and stay warm in the harsh, winter weather. I think the best way to spice up a dull winter outfit would be to through a colorful scarf on and some cute boots. Scarfs are such a great accessory and look good on everybody. This winter I will be sure to stay warm but stylish at the same time!

Im so excited for the winter season because i get to pull out all my coats, boots, scarves and sweaters. I loved the over sized look with a pair of leggings and a great fitting pair of boots. I warmest coats and boots might not be to cutest looks but you can definitely find a way to make them look better especially with a scarf for winter!

I completely agree with Olivia about the boys normally sporting the hoodie and tennis shoes during the winter. It's great to try to look cute but when the weather starts getting chillier I tend to lean toward cute sweatshirts.

This blog did a pretty good job showing off a couple of clothing trends that are being seen around Lexington this fall. It is very popular for girls to wear skinny jeans, jackets, scarves and boots; it's the perfect combination. And the picture of the guy demonstrates that he is a very trendy person.

Winter is my least favorite season of the year, mostly because it's so hard to find fashionable clothes to wear. On a typical day to class I usually wear jeans my Ugg boots, some sort of jacket and scarf. And guys are very trendy with their blazers and khakis they get to sport during the cold weather.

It is definitely hard to stay cute in the winter time, but I love layering! I get so tired of summer clothes by the end of the year that I just cant wait to bundle up by winter time! It is always fun to experiment with different layering techniques! I love scarfs, and i think they can make a casual outfit look a little more cute!

Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year! I LOVE wearing my jeans and boots, and fleeces and scarves. I love when it gets a chill in the air and I can wear my no-no's (no hood no pocket sweatshirts). I also love seeing the guys who dress nice in the khakis and sweaters. Fall shows off many differnt styles.

As the cold weather is approaching, I definately have seen some cute winter wear. Some girls really try to look put together going to class by wearing nice leather boots and cute peacoats. If students do not have time to put together a cute outfit. The leggings and UGG boot trends in popular too. I know some people disagree with with trend, but I personally love my UGGs and live in them in the winter!

I usually wear jeans or yoga pants with my northface when the weather gets colder. I love my Ugg Boots too! For me, it's all about what will keep me the warmest walking to and from class.

Scarfs and layering are big trends for college students. Boots are also very popular and are one of my favorites. Uggs, fleeces and sweats are also trends that I see a lot of around campus. Guys usually are seen wearing hoodies and pull overs in this cool weather.

I love the winter time! I love being able to bundle up with scarves, gloves, hats, coats, and boots. I think this blog did a very good job of showing how the girls dress during the winter! I agree with Olivia when she said the guys just wear sweatshirts and tennis shoes. I see some guys wear loafers too. I like the part about the guy in the bookstore. He has a very intersting taste in style and the ensamble he put together looks great!

I have seen a lot of girls layering, which is a great way to accessorize and be warm at the same time. For guys, it may be harder to latyer while being stylish all at the same time, but like you said before it is "do-able." The guy in the picture seems like he knows how to be fashionable and comfortable; what a great selection for pictures.

The walks to class in the winter months definitely get disturbingly cold. Generally, my priority lies with being warm and comfortable on the way to class and I tend to focus less on being fashionable. The trouble lies in the fact that once you get inside you are forced to take some layers of so you wont sweat to death. I'm also pretty bad about leaving jackets and other clothing items at friends houses when I take them off which becomes a hassle. Already wanting it to be warm out again.

OMG this weather is crazy one week it was 70 degrees in November. Then the next week it is 40 degrees. I honestly don't kno what to wear. Cause i'll might get to hot or too cold but i think boots and will work during this weird weather changes.

Margo Cain said...

Layering this season is definitely a must. That 15 minute walk across campus can be brutal if not dressed appropriate. Also even on the more reasonable days some classrooms air conditioning or heat is on a crazy level compared to other classrooms on campus, so having that fleece piece you can pull off or put on is definitely nice. Same goes for coats in general and scarves, any piece you can wear outside and peel inside is definitely a must...and of course the girls keep the look cute :)

Mallory Patrash said...

I love fall! And all the trends that come with it. I believe layering is a must. I love slouchy boyfriend cardigans under a structured jacket with a large soft scarf! I also am still a fan of Ugg's and even though they may not be the most attractive shoe they still keep my feet warm!

Cara Richardson said...

The weather change always bring a new season of trends! However, when it's cold outside I would much rather wear warm sweatpants and a sweatshirt than dressing up. On certain occasions when it's sunny, I might dress more casual. Around campus, over 3/4 of the girls will have some kind of boots on to stay warm. As for the guys, they continue to dress for comfort.

Erin.Creelman said...

The weather can certainly change what people plan on wearing that day. For the colder and winter days, more people dress casual while some people who dress up accessorize their outfits with cute scarves. Boots definitely are in style this season, you can see so many girls around campus wearing cute boots.

At uk layering is a must when the air gets chilly, but the classes stay toasty. Those who add simple accessories always look more more put together, it just shows that you took a little bit of time to get ready instead of just rolling out of bed and into the class room. I also think that boots help dress up almost any outfit.

These trends are very appropriate for the fall season. I have seen so many scarves around campus like the one pictured. I am so excited to see pullover sweaters around campus too! They’re perfect for the time between fall and winter and can be silly and creative or plain and simple. The same accessories such as necklaces and rings can be used for the sweaters too.

Amanda is looking fabulous with her boots and chunky scarf! I have class everyday with her and she is always looking fashionable no matter what the weather is. The boy in the bookstore is looking pretty snazzy as well. You don't see many guys these days put alot of effort into their everyday wear, so when I guy looks nice everyday you tend to notice. i definitely see girls with jewelry on and scarves wrapped around them to keep them warm these days.

Layering is crucial for staying warm and especially protecting yourself against the wind in between the towers. I really like how scarves add to any outfit, I have quite and extensive collection myself. I also love boot as well, and regardless of how ridiculous Uggs look, I still love them!

Now that it's getting colder by the day outside, layering is definitely something that I have started doing. Knowing that I can layer many pieces, throw on some cute boots, and dress it up with some over the top jewelry really makes me excited in the morning yet not afraid of the cold days.

Scarves are a great way to change up your look on a daily basis when you start to get tired of the same winter jacket. One of my favorite things about winter is layering up different pieces. And cute jewelry always completes a layered winter look.

I need to get to the mall and get some long shirts to wear with casual tights! These are the trends these days and i'm still stuck in baggy sweats and sweatshirts from high school! I love when girls layer it looks very vintage and a dressier casual. Its always good to throw on a necklace or big ring to make it just a little more dressier too!

I really would have liked to have seen some actual trends mentioned in this blog. For examples, rustic orange and a bronzed red are popular color showing up on runways, geometric shapes are being seen more in ensembles. There are certainly a select few fashion-forward people who are actually showcasing the multiple trends for Winter 2010/Early 2011.

One thing I hate is a pair of UGG boots. :( They've been around for too long and are just an example of following the leader. It's difficult to stay fashionable in the cold, but it is most certainly obtainable.

Emily Mahonski said...

I love the scarfs for the cold weather! I am also loving vests for girls this season when its not quite cold enough to wear a heavy jacket!

Layering is defintily the way to go for everyone this season. The layers them selves are easy, calm and most usually solid prints. But adding some tall botos and a printed scarf takes the casual look to a new level.

I love fall! When it comes to fashion it is definetly my favorite season of the year! My favorite color is blue, and I'm loving the fact that navy is looking to be a big hit this fall season. There are so many things to do with your wardrobe during the fall season, and I love diving into the new looks.

Its a lot harder to find a fashionable outfit that keeps you warm in the winter, especially when having to walk all around campus for classes. I think a great way to make your warm weather outfits different and cute, is by accessories. its all about staying warm when youre out on campus for classes all day. a good pair of boots, scarfs and hats are sure to be a part of your winter outfits.

Lucy Klausing said...

I have to force myself to look decent in the winter because it's so cold outside all I want to do is wear sweats or yoga pants. When I do end up wearing jeans, however, I usually do put on a cute shirt, scarf and jacket to make the outfit complete. The girl is wearing what I see the majority of campus wear and it's easy and cute. The guys outfit is awesome too. I especially love the pants from the 70's.

I like how you all covered all aspects of style around campus. Northfaces are a big hit as well as boots and scarfs. Also accessories are such a big part of my wardrobe and they add that extra something to every outfit. Military jackets all also coming into style because they are warm but are more dressy than a fleece jacket. Great job!

While trying to stay warm on campus I find it very hard to also stay stylish and cute. But by accessorising with a fun scarf or jewelry will do just the trick. Or even shoes can add flair to a pair of normal jeans and a sweatshirt.

It gets kind of difficult to get up to go to class in the cold let alone dress up. I would love to dress up more. But when I do layers are always in the picture along with some type of cute boot and jewelery.

For the winter season sometimes i just dress warm. Occasionally I make an effort to dress up during the colder months. Hopefully this winter season I will incorporate some more style into my winter wear.

I love the fall season. It brings out the colorful scarfs and fashionable boots. This blog came right on time with the weather change, and the pictures are really cute as well.

Danielle Haddad said...

Some people might complain about UGG boots, but they clearly don't know what they're missing. Early November temperatures allowed light sweaters and sandals to stick around longer than they usually do. Layering is so important around campus because some classrooms are freezing, while others are very warm.

I have really noticed the trends changing with the seasons. I agree with you about the scarves. My girlfriend is obsessed with scarves and is always getting something new with a different design. I also think the gentlemen in the picture looks nice with his choice of clothing.

On campus the wind can be pretty bad so I wear sperry shoes lined with fur to keep my feet warm. But scarves are definitely an essential feature to my wardrobe when it's cold outside. Nothing is better than a colorful, cute and comfortable scarf to keep you warm.

I like how this blog expressed how individuals keep their own style, but still look cute, especially with the guy. It shows how fashionable UK students are! I would definitely agree with the trends for girls about the scarves, boots, and layering. Many girls dress this way for colder weather, including me!

Throughout the fall/winter I think I wear the same thing everyday; boots, jeans, scarf, and a cute jacket! I dont see many boys dressing like that around campus, but it was cool to see someone that does dress like that! You were definitely right on with fall trends.

I agree- accessorizing will do wonders! In addition to jewlery, I think scarves are a great way to add a little twist to an outift, for both dressy and casual outfits. They are also great in the winter because they actually do make a great impact concerning warmth. Also, it's good to see that the guys (or at least one) are beginning to explore the vintage look as well!

It really is difficult to make an outfit look good in the cold! I lived in Vermont for a while, and it was impossible in the dead of Winter. You dressed to survive the cold! I liked that this post pointed out fashion trends found around Lexington. It's nice to see some of the city's style!

This post did a great job highlighting the trends of girls in Lexington. I can admit I do not see very many guys dressed like the one pictured but that is the good thing about Lexington, not everybody looks the same everywhere. I totally agree that its hard to stay fashionable in the cold. Most of the time I am worried about staying warm and its hard to think what accessories will match AND keep you warm. I do want to get a UK plaid scarf for this winter since I have a lot of blue clothes I know it will match a lot of my wardrobe.

You never know what the weather is going to be like these days. One day it’s hot and the other it’s cold. Layers are a must though to stay warm on campus. Scarves are always great accessories, while looking fashionable it keeps your neck nice and warm. For guys it is easier to look nice and dress warm, all they have to do is wear a nice button down compared to girls sweaters are the only thing that looks nice and keeps you warm.

I love walking around Lexington and seeing the many different styles everyone has. Everyone is so much fun and make their style their own. If a trend around its played out in several different ways through the dress of many. I love that Lexington is up on its fashion for a non fashion oriented city. Its unique.

"Accessorizing any outfit makes it look better." Wow, so true!! I think it is hard to look cute while you're bundling up for the weather but adding accessories definetily helps tremendously! I also thought the picture of the guy in the bookstore was great, although his clothes were a bit ill-fitting he had some classic pieces that are perfect for the colder weather.

When its this time of the year, I choose to bundle up. Although I don't wear very many accessories I would wear something to look stylish. Something stylish for me would be a nice hat or a toboggan, and from time to time I might put on some nice shoes.

Being warm and comfortable is always most important when on campus. Im not looking to impress. I think girls who dress up all the time look ridiculous. Are heals really an necessity while tracking through campus?
