UK Football Attire: Game Day Trends

One of the best ways to show team spirit is easy if you have the right colors in your wardrobe. At UK, this means blue and white. There is a lot more thought that goes into getting dressed for a football game than any other ordinary day. The colors a person is wearing at any football game can make it very clear which team they are cheering for. It is easy to spot UK fans wearing blue and white all over campus. One of the biggest trends for students, adults, and kids at football games is wearing a Kentucky t-shirt or UK sports shirt. This is one of the most classic trends that will be around as long as UK sporting events exist. Kentucky has some of the most loyal and dedicated fans that are always showing their support through the clothes they wear on game days. The above picture shows that this trend is great for males and females alike. This a comfortable, casual, and spirited way of showing support for the Cats. One of my favorite things about UK football games is being able to throw on a pair of jeans and a UK shirt to spend a day with friends and family supporting the Cats.

There are some people that choose to go a different route with their clothing on game day. It is easy to wear blue without having to go buy a different UK shirt for every game. It may even be that you just want to change your look from a more casual style to a trendier look. In this picture they show their support by wearing our team’s colors.  The blue scarf can turn this simple outfit into the perfect look to show that she is cheering for the Cats.  It does not matter whether a UK fan chooses to wear a sporty look or a trendy look, you can always expect them to be dressed their best in blue and white.

I agree that one of the biggest trends to what you wear to games is the kentucky t-shirt and its such a easy way to show your spirit by throwing on a pair of jeans with it. I also agree in that other people tend to be more stylish with what they wear to the games. I would always see so many girls wearing skirts and dresses to the games when it was nice out, and i was actually one who dressed up. I love the idea of making if more stylish to dress up for a game!

From trendy outfits to t-shirts, UK football games are a big place to spot different trends. I see a lot of girl students wearing cute dresses and tights to the colder games as well as skirts and boots. Although many guys do wear t-shirts to the games others dress up in button ups and khakis. Whether fans decide to dress up or down you are know at least one thing, that they will be in blue in white to support UK!

My favorite part about the UK football games is getting dressed up to go tailgate. I love putting on my blue shirt and a skirt and some flip flops and running around to all the tailgates to have a fun day with friends; especially night game! I dont think ive worn a t-shirt to a game yet, but thats just my personal choice. It does seem comfortable though.

I love going to UK Football games and looking at what everyone is wearing. I could spend the whole day people watching and not even go into the game because some outfits and attire are so interesting. There is no doubt that UK fans are loyal to their Cats and support the team year round by sporting their blue attire. I can't wait for the blue Christmas santa hats to come out!!

I love going to football games and sporting my team colors. For me I wear a football jersey with jeans, but you do see a lot of girls (mainly sorority girls) wearing dressier clothes to games. Most wear dresses and look nice. I like to feel comfortable at a game and not have to worry about my dress or skirt coming up while im jumping and cheering for the cats. Nevertheless, i love going to football games and cheering on UK.

There are so many different trends for the football games! Girls wear everything from dresses, skirts, boots, to UK attire. While most of the guys are seen in their white and blue uk spirit wear. With all the different looks, the one thing is common is that everyone is wearing blue and ready to cheer on the wildcats! Football games are always fun and filled with different fashions.

I have worn both styles to games. Some weekends I feel like dressing up in a cute blue dress, or fancier blue shirt and jensa, and other times i just go casual wearing shorts or jeans, and a UK t-shirt. Either one you wear, will show that you are a true Wildcats fan. When it starts getting colder, you will see more people wearing that more casual look im sure.

Melissa Thompson said...

I definitely agree! I see both styles at tailgates and inside games. I have dressed up more then dressed down, but if you decide to be more casual you will still fit in!

Uk sporting events are a big reason I decided to transfer to UK in the first place and the array of UK apparel makes it easy and fun to dress up on game days. My favorite UK wear is from the pink collegiate collection at victoria's secret. I will definitely have some of those items on my Christmas list!

I love dressing up for UK football games. I think it is fun and it looks good. Its also easier to be able to mix and match rather than to wear a different shirt for every game.

Well I've only been to a UK hockey game and everyone was wearing blue and white but nobody really dressed up for this. I do drive on campus on saturday nights and see the "sea of blue" everywhere though. IT IS DEFINTELY A HUGE TREND!

There have been games where I go for the casual t-shirt and jeans look and there have been games where I've decided to dress up. Either way I've had a great time supporting my Cats in the festive blue, white, and black colors! I can't wait for Christmas because I'll definitely be asking for some more UK clothes!

UK football and tailgating means trends from anything like UK blue and white t-shirts to girls wearing dresses and guys wearing button up shirts and ties. This year one of the most popular clothing for the girls to wear was the new UK apparel from the pink collegiate collection at victoria's secret.

Football game days are definitely a great spot to see different trends of clothes. Whether its a dress, or t-shirt and jeans you will see blue everywhere. There have been some game days where I have dressed up, however I think for a football game its more comfortable to be casual.

I'm so sad that football season is over! It's definitely one of my favorite times of year. I really enjoy getting dressed up for football games, but I also think it's fun to see all of the different sayings on everyone's UK t-shirts. Anything from sayings about Joker to bashing the other team. It's a fun way to show school spirit.

One of the biggest UK events that bring out the best and worst fashion trends are the games. Whether its basketball or football, many fans come out to support ad with that comes their style. Its not something just for college students but for every generation. I love that UK is all about tradition and with that comes the families who continue to support that.

I completely agree! To a UK game of any sort, wearing blue and white is must! It's always good to be comfortable and especially warm in this crazy weather but I personally liked to dress up for game days last year and show off my newest blue outfit of teh season!

It's great seeing a sea of blue and white on game day! It shows the support our city has for the UK athletic program. I love how in the warmer game days, a lot of the girls dress up!

I'm so sad that football season is all over with but I think UK definitely ended the season on a well dressed note. As it got colder I loved seeing the blue and white scarves and gloves. I loved the frat guys pulling out the dress coat to help keep them warm. One of my favorite accessories was when I saw girls walking around tailgates wearing our very own UK Plaid scarf :)
I'm antsy to see what the crazed UK basketball fans will pull out for this years upcoming season!

If I was to go to a UK football game I would wear a casual t-shirt. Although I am not a UK fan, it does not hurt to wear blue. I am open to wear UK colors but I will not support them. I'd rather cheer for the other team.

I love going to the football games and wearing my blue for the cats. I've gone both routes to the game, I have worn my UK tailgating t-shirt and I have also worn a blue dress. I have to say I love wearing my dresses and getting cute for the games, but a casual look is a good way to go once the colder games set it.

Blue and white are a must for any UK sporting event! I love going to games and seeing the different combinations of outfits everyone comes up with. I like the casual look as well as incorporating a dress into the mox!

If the more formal look is what you desire for game day, UK plaid wear is always a good option. Whether it’s a scarf or tote, the blue and white plaid is a great way to support the cats and the MAT department! A blue t-shirt and jeans are a practical alternative, as they allow for more comfort that more formal attire.

I love football season for many reasons, but one of the main reasons is to dress up! I love tailgating and see all the girls super cute blue dresses. Then, if I don't feel like dressing up I can always throw a UK t-shirt on to be comfortable. With the weather changing, the clothing will change as well. However, it never fails to see blue and white!

I always support our cats by wearing blue to any sports game! My whole wardrobe consists of blue and white! I also love looking at all the frat and sorority people dress up for games. They always look so nice, but still in spirit because they have white and blue on!

This football season I have seen people dressed in all sorts of items. This blog does a great job of portraying the variety of outfits that have been chosen to wear to the UK football games. Personally, I find it easier and more comfortable to dress a step above casual when the weather is warm; like a cute royal blue top with skinny jeans. But as the weather has started to change, it is my personal opinion that a tshirt, sweatshirt, and jeans with uggs has been a lot more comfortable and appropriate.

I can't believe football season is already over, it went by so fast! But I definitely got a couple of Saturdays in their with some great spirit wear. I know a lot of girls like to get dressed up for tailgating and the game, but I love being comfortable and able to relax while enjoying the festivities so I go with the spirit t-shirt and jeans. Can't wait til next season!

I loved seeing everyone's looks for football. I cant believe the season is already over. It was great to see the guys take a nice frat look and make it festive with blue UK pants or throwing on UK Plaid. Of course, the girls were fashionable in anything from jeans and a UK tshirt to skirts, dresses and boots. I'm more of a tshirt and jeans girl but really saw some great outfits this season!

It is very hard to have enough UK gear for every football game. I've seen many girls dress up in blue wearing scarfs or hats. When it was warmer I also saw many girls wearing a blue skirt or blouse. It was very popular this year to dress up for the football games in more then just a UK t-shirt.

I love the endless options you have to wear to all the games! I like the more trendy look a little better! it lets you show your unique and stylish side of what UK colored outfits you can come up with! Sometimes you just have to o for that casual look though, especially when it gets colder out!

I agree that one of the most popular trends at a UK football game is a UK t-shirt and jeans/shorts. Since the games are outside you never know what the weater will be like or if you will be standing the entire game or not. So, dressing comfortably is essential in my opinion. But, I also think the trendier outfits are very cute to wear especially to go tailgating in.

I can't believe football home games have already come and gone. We had a lot of nice weather for this year's season and many decided to dress up in blue outfits instead of wearing tshirts and jeans. The PINK collection was also very popular this year!

When I go to a football game, I like to be comfortable and let loose which is why I usually just wear a tee-shirt or hooded sweatshirt and jeans. I think all of the different game day wear is interesting and fun to see. Also, I think it is cool to see all of the different UK merchandise there is out there.

I agree with these blogs that you definitely need blue and white coming to a UK game! The atmosphere is crazy and its a sea of blue!! Another thing that is very popular for UK games is blue dresses. When coming to UK i knew that one thing i needed were a bunch of blue dresses to wear to the games to support the cats!

Great Blog! I think that showing our team spirit has always been popular here at UK. I'm usually working during the games so I never get to go to the tailgates. But where I work we're allowed to wear UK shirts on game days so even though I'm not at the game I still have my UK gear on.

It's hard to believe that football season is already over but now we get to look forward to basketball!!! Blue and White are a must to any sporting event. I love mixing things up from game to game, rather it be dress up a little more than usual or dress in casual. It doesn't matter what you wear as long as you support the wildcats in some blue and white fashion.

I think it is great that UK has a more casual gameday trend. I know as you go more south that the trends are less casual and more formal. After going to a few away games and having to wear nice dresses and boots, its nice to come back to UK and just throw on a UK t-shirt and jeans. Although now that football season is over, I look forward to basketball games when Rupp Arena is filled with blue and white!

I love tailgating during football season. It's easy to dress for because all you have to do is make sure you are wearing blue! In the beginning of the season its great to wear a t-shirt and shorts to be relaxed and comfortable. However when it gets cooler the hoodies and sweaters definetly come out. The good thing about it is you can be trndy and dressy or casual and comfy. Either way wearing blue and representing the cats is the goal!

Wearing blue and white to tailgate/go to the games is key to fitting in with the rest of the fans. Tailgating is tons of fun and what I always plan on doing whenever Kendtucky has a game. I mainly wear UK t-shirts to tailgating because of comfort, but seeing the different oufits people come up with, still sporting Kentucky blue, has opened my eyes to maybe try to do the same next year.

While other wear cute kentucky blue dresses, skirts, blouses, etc. I stocked up this summer on blue dresses to wear to the tailgates and games!

I have never been able to tailgate at a UK game because I always have to be cheering, but I would love to be able to do it some day! It looks like so much fun and I love seeing the cute blue outfits some girls put together to show their school spirit. The several bookstores around campus provide students with several different options for UK apparel.

This is very valid with what UK fans wear for the games. I've personally seen people wearing casual clothing and the trendier outfits. Usually the fraternity guys and sorority girls are the ones that are dressed up more, including myself. I also like the part of the blog that talks about how sporting UK gear will always be a part of UK until the sports die, which they never will :)

I am not big on the games here but I have seen plenty of people's fashionable attire. You can tell Kentucky has a very strong fan base because everybody has some Kentucky blue in their closet. When its game time and those seats fill up with that blue you know what time it is. The pictures for this blog are very cute because they show how people like to switch it.

One of my favorite things about attending UK games is to see the trends! I love the diversity because you will see a lot of individuals dressed up and also many causually dressed too! There are girls with cute blue ruffle dresses and girls that wear trendy UK tshirts they purchased from the UK bookstore. For me personally, I like to wear the Victoria Secret UK collection to the games!

I enjoy the diversity of the clothing Cats fans choose to wear on game days. It's always safe to throw on a blue or white UK T-shirt with shorts or jeans. There are also many other routes you can go like blue dresses for girls and shirt and tie for guys. Or you can go all out by going shirtless and painting your body blue!

Going to the UK football games you can literally wear what ever you want as long as it incorporates the school colors. You can wear anything from a sweatshirt to a dress if it is UK blue and white. Some people even go as crazy as painting there bodies to show there school spirit. The most popular UK football attire seems to be the UK tee shirts ad sweatshirts. How students dress for the UK football games shows how dedicated the fans really are.
