Halloween Trends Part 1

Who doesn’t like getting dressed up for Halloween? Because you’re not Lady GaGa, this is one opportunity for you to wear a costume and have fun with it. You can either buy a costume or make one yourself.  Making a costume yourself allows you to show off your creativity and come up with some great ideas; it’s amazing what people will imagine. That’s one of the perks to Halloween, seeing people look completely different than what they normally do and transforming themselves into something or someone. A popular trend is coordinating your costume with other people. Many couples, groups of friends, and even family members do this. The picture below is a couple going as a cave man and cave women. Being college students their budget for costume spending was low, but they managed to turn themselves into character with using less than twenty dollars. Borrowing items, also helps when you’re not trying to spend a lot of money.

If you decide to purchase your costume, you won’t have any trouble finding a retailer that sells this type of merchandise. Anywhere from Target to Wal-Mart, online or even specialty stores opening up specifically for Halloween, you’re sure to find just what you’re looking for. Halloween Express is a well known one stop shop for Halloween. Halloween Express has been in business since 1990 and claims to have the largest selection of Halloween costumes and costume accessories available anywhere. It is known as the Halloween costume authority. It offers the combined buying power of a year-round internet operation and seasonal Halloween costume and costume accessory store retail locations.

Halloween is a huge holiday for retail stores! Sales boom with everyone wanting costumes, candy, decorations, etc. It's one my favorite holidays as well. I love seeing all the different costumes that people wear!

The retailing industry is rising in sales when the holiday seasons come. Halloween is just the beginning of these holidays, with consumers buying costumes, candy and other goodies, this can often shadow how Christmas and Thanksgiving sales will be. Halloween is a great time of year and Halloween express is the perfect place to get your costume.

The holidays are a great time for retailers! Halloween starts it all off, and is a time when costumes and candy sales hit an all time high. There are so many stores such as Halloween Express that just open for the season, and then close up. They're becoming more and more popular, I know I have gone to these kinds of stores each Halloween, and helped them in making a lot of money for the Halloween season!

This year I saw a ton of costumes that are made by hand! they were so creative. This was a great option if you didn't want to spend money on a costume. If you didn't mind spending money on a costume the big place to go here in Lexington was Halloween Express!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because of the fact that you can dress up as whatever you like! Some of my favorite costumes I saw was where's Waldo, my parents said they saw sumo wrestler while they were passing out candy. I love when people make there own costumes! That's what I did this year, I went as Katy perry!

Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love going out and seeing all the different and creative costumes people come up with. This was the first year ever I didn't celebrate Halloween because I was out of town for a wedding. I've seen pictures on facebook though and it looks like people got pretty creative this year!

I think it is more fun to make your costume than to go out and purchase them. It allows you to be creative and have fun with it. I had to much fun making my costumes with my roommates. In the end, the result is something different that you cannot find in stores. I hate trying to find a costume at the Halloween store. Not only is it stressful, but the prices are ridiculous for something you are only going to be wearing for one night.

Halloween is one of the better holidays, it gets people involved and you get to see the different sides of people. Sometimes you just find a silly side to a person depending on their costume. Kids are also actively involved in Halloween, besides, they can go door to door and receive candy. Now what kid does not like candy.

I found myself sporting several different costume ideas over the several days my friends and I celebrated Halloween this year. I agree with a post above Halloween definitely starts off the holiday boom to the retail industry. Not only are pop up stores popular places to shop but also stores like Wal-Mart due to their costume selection, candy, and home decoration department. Craft stores are also highly impacted during the holiday season from do it yourself costumes to interior/exterior decorations.

I would have loved to make a homemade costume, however I'm not that creative. I saw some super cute homemade outfits however. I like the picture included in the post of the couples homemade costume. I love Halloween Express and similar stores but after this year I have started to get a bit bored with their selection. It is the same outfits almost every year. Next year I plan on borrowing someone elses costume instead of buying expensive costumes that show up on tons of other people.

I LOVE HALLOWEEN! It's such a fun holiday because you can be anyone or anything that would be abnormal on any other day of the year! There were some pretty neat costumes this year! I would have to say that making your costume is much more fun and rewarding though and it saves you 60 bucks on an outfit you'll only wear once from a store!

Dressing up for Halloween and getting to be creative is so much fun, and it's even more fun when group or couple costumes are involved. Halloween is a huge time for the retail industry. From the costumes to the candy everyone is involved. Great job!

Certain retail stores are always successful in the Halloween season! Most everyone is out looking for the perfect costume weeks prior to the big day. I have shopped at Halloween Express in years past, but this year I decided to make my own costumes. One night I was a cat with a few friends. We just wore all black with cat ears, a tail, and drew whiskers on our face. Very cheap but very cute. The next night we were m&ms. We homemade our costumes from old sweatshirts and it ended up being a lot of fun!

I feel like for retailers Halloween is really the kick off for what they hope to be a great selling season. I love this time of year because all of the funnest holidays are bam, bam, bam, bam in a row. It is really the test to see if retailers have what it takes to make it through the holiday season. On another note, halloween is great even if you dont have the budget to spend on a nice costume, all you have to do get creative! I mean come on who doesnt love the homemade costumes?

I always love to be creative when it comes to a costume. I think making one is so much fun. You don't have to go to an expensive retailer to have a great costume. But if time is short or you need to add something to your costume, it is convenient to run into one of the many pop up stores around town.

I think college students have more fun getting dressed up, then kids have fun trick or treating. There are alot of retailers that provide costumes and items where you can make something up. Going to costume parties and hanging with friends enteratined most of us this past weekend.

Some of the best and most creative costumes I have ever seen have been homemade! My friend assembled together various pieces of materials to form the Mad Hatter costume, bought some art make-up, and a wig, and his resemblance was unreal! As you mentioned, Halloween Express is a great place to purchase accessories to your homemade outfit. It can add the perfect finishing touches while still leaving your wallet full!

Halloween is a great time of year for retail stores! It doesn't matter whether you spend 60 or 20 dollars, halloween costumes will always be a fun tradition! I went to Halloween Express to look for a costume, but they were all very expensive. I ending up putting together my costume for less than 20 dollars!

I love having a creative costume and i love making or puting something together myself. Every year my family has a halloween party and we all get dressed up and see who can be the most creative. I also like going out the day after to find all the good deals and find what costumes were left and buying them to save for next year.

I stayed here for one night of Halloween and went out of town for two and i saw some amazing costumes! Some were so creative and did even cost any money! I didn't spend any money this year and made two of my costumes and borrowed another. I didnt realize until reading this blog how many different places there are for affordable halloween costumes! Ill definitely keep that in mind for next year!

Halloween was so fun this year!! There were so many great creative costumes. My favorite costumes were the couples costumes. I saw one couple that was dress as Bob Barker and the price is right girl. Another funny couples costume was of a chef and a Pillsbury dough boy. Besides the couple costumes the handmade ones are always very creative too!

Halloween is a fun time to dress up and be creative. I saw a lot of fun costumes this year. One of my favorites was a group of girls who all went as different colored Ipods. I think group/couple costumes are a great idea. And making your own costume is a lot less expensive than buying them!

Halloween is so much fun, and they are right about being able to do it on a budget as a poor college student! I did the cave woman thing last year and it was a piece of cake to make the costume! This year I bought one, but it was cheap because I got it from the kids section. Definitely a holiday to show off your creativity!

I think Halloween Express is a good place to get your Halloween costume, the only downside about it is that their prices are a little high for most college students budget. Making your own costume is a good idea too and definite way to make sure your the only person wearing your costume.

It seems that everyone went all out this year. Many people chose to be Lady Gaga, while others went as a classic witch, or goblin. I'm sure that Halloween Express, and all the other seasonal pop-up stores made a lot of money on the extra costumes people bought for the long weekend celebration.

Halloween is a great time to see people's creativity. I saw so many creative costumes such as trolls, superheros, and m&ms. Although college students are on a tight budget, they work with what they got; One girl put on all black and put cat whiskers on her face and she turned into a cat.

This year I had a lot of fun coming up with creative ideas that were more conceptual and different. I also tried to keep myself within a budget that was reasonable like you all mentioned above. I love Halloween, it is one of my favorite holidays and I always look forward to seeing the costumes that everyone comes up with.

I think making a homemade costume is the way to go. It is alot cheaper and alot more creative then getting one from the store. But it is also cool that so many places sell Halloween costumes you can always find a cheap one somewhere.

This Halloween I went the cheaper route and bought fabric from Joann to make my costume. It seems like this was what most students chose to do as the college budget makes it difficult to purchase expensive costumes that will only be worn once or twice. Some of the group costumes I saw this year were Candy Land characters, minions from Despicable Me, and a group of old men.

Halloween is always an interesting holiday when it comes to the variety of costumes you will find from people. I liked that you pointed out how couples or groups of friends often dress together in a specific theme because I saw a lot of this on Halloween this year. I personally prefer seeing costumes that people have created themselves because they are often more visually appealing than their expensive store-bought counterparts.

Halloween is definitely one of my favorite holidays! I love dressing up, the excitement but even more, the creativity that is involved. My boyfriend, friends, and I were neon Indians. We made our own costumes from scratch. It was so much fun. We bought all of our fabrics from Joann's fabrics and then got feathers and accessories from Michael's. They ended up so cute, and unique!

I love Halloween. It is such a festive time of the year. I actually did a couple thing as well this year. That is very popular. What is so great about Halloween Express is that the one on New Circle is open all year round. It gives a chance to find a costume whenever we need one, even if it isn't Halloween.

I think the Halloween stores, like Halloween express, are really interesting because they seem to do very well, while only being in business for a small part of the year. I have never been to the store, but I'm sure their selection of costumes and other items is impressive. I have always enjoyed making my own costume to show my creative side, like you said.

I like this post about Halloween costumes but I wish the writer's had mentioned how expensive the Halloween Express is! I have been in there just looking around and some of the most simplistic costumes are around $50. Being in college that is way to much to spend on something you are going to wear one time. I prefer always making my costumes and doing something funny/creative to match my friends.

I think its interesting that Halloween Express has been in business since 1990. It makes me wonder if over the years Halloween has become a bigger holiday geared towards adults as well as children. I agree that costumes do get pricey, and I must say the costumes that really impress me are the creative ones people make.

I find it interesting how stores like Halloween Express do very well and keep coming back every year during this season for only being open a short time every year. This year instead of going out and buying my costume i decided to be creative and save money by buying fabric and making my own. It was time consuming but i had fun making it and saved money!

Lucy Klausing said...

I completely homemade my costume this year the night that i was supposed to go out, and it was still a good costume. I learned that I don't need to spend $50 dollars on a costume at Halloween Express like I did last year. Although the costumes at Halloween Express are very cute, I think homemade costuems are more creative! All my friends had great homemade costuems this year, which made it more fun!

Halloween Express must be doing something right! Other holiday stores should maybe look at their business model or strategy. I love seeing what topical Halloween costumes everyone comes up with, much more original than the classics.

Halloween is always a fun time of year! Last year, I dressed up three different nights and on night 2 I completely ruined my self made costume. I had to throw something together for my third night of Halloween, and decided to be a fairy. I luckily had a dress that I wore, but needed wings last minute. I drove out to the Halloween Express and was very surprised to find just what I was looking for so close to Halloween. They offer a wide selection of costumes and accessories and I was very pleased with my experience there!

Great blog!! Halloween is great because for one night you get to dress up and be someone else. They mentioned this in the blog but I also know a bunch of poeple who are swapping costumes with someone else to help cut down on cost. Also dressing up in matching costumes with other people is always fun!

This year i went as a cowgirl because i didnt want to spend the money on a costume at halloween express. I know alot of people did though, so i'll have to go next year to get something good!

I like how this blog talks about how people coordinate costumes. This is a very popular trend. Being in a sorority, for our Halloween Date Party and many others I know dates coordinated their costumes. For example, I was an indian and my date was a cowboy. I also love that this blog talks about the creativity and imagination of Halloween, because I love that as well!

A Halloween blog can be taken so many ways. Most would just focus on the tradition though. Nowadays it is just the females that really like to wear costume and the boys just like to sit back and look. This is a very nice informative blog with a very cute picture.

Halloween is one of the most profitable holidays in the retailing world. So many people go out and buy a new costume every year. Costumes for girls generally range from $50-100. This year I feel like a majority of people were creative with their costumes and didn't splurge as much as the typical year. I love this picture and their outfits.
