Shoe Trends

With the warm weather ending and the cold front coming in, the campus shoe trends are beginning to change.  Instead of the summer open toed Rainbows or other flip flops; we are beginning to see more thick and closed toed shoes.  Boys will be boys and typically stay the same with their Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes and classic Nike or Jordan’s gym shoes but lately we are seeing the trend of Clarks Wallabee's.  These shoes are more popular in the winter because of its thick sole and its moccasin look.  These are very comfortable but more expensive type of shoe that can be worn by girls or guys.  Clarks Wallabee’s tend to act as the “boy ugg boot” for the wintertime.  Another men’s shoe is the classic Sperry Top-Sider that also keep the feet dry and warm and will most likely always be a UK campus favorite.  Lastly you have the sporty Nike or Michael Jordan gym shoe.  These casual running or sport playing shoes are popular for the typical UK boys.  These shoes will never go out of style and will always be seen around campus.

If you ask a girl how many pairs of shoes she owns you can almost be positive it will be in the double digits. An essential part of everyone’s wardrobe, especially girls, is shoes. They make the outfit complete and in order to be trendy us girls must always have the latest fashions. From season to season different shoe brands fade in and out, but the ladies will always have the perfect fit. On the University of Kentucky's campus girls can be seen walking around in the always popular flip flops, but are most likely to spice up there outfit with a cute studded sandal to take their casual look a little more fun. When the weather starts to get a little chillier the Sperry’s start making their winter debut coming in an assortment of shades, designs, and patterns. But let's not forget those mornings when the rain decides to make a visit. During these dreary days, the girls can be seen sporting a bright colored rain boot, or even a flat neutral colored boot perfect for keeping their pants of choice dry. So whether it is rain or shine, a walk to class or a night out on the town, you can always count on the ladies of UK to be wearing trendy footwear!

Those shoes are definetly a hit on campus! I have not seen so many sperry's until i got to UK! And the rain boots and boots are a must-have here!

Yes, rain boots are an absolute must on this campus! I bought my first pair a year ago and have gotten so much use out of them! I also didn't purchase Sperry's until I came to UK. I noticed them all over campus and how cute they are and decided to buy some. I love shoes and I definitely agree that the right pair of shoes can make an entire outfit!

The right pair of shoes can always make or break an outfit. On campus sperry's will always be popular because you can wear them with almost anything. And for days like today rainboots are always a must!

Rain boots are a must here at UK. It rains a lot during the colder months so to keep your feet and bottom of your pants dry you have to have rain boots. Boys you see wear a lot of Sperry's and Clarks Wallabee's during the winter months. All of these shoes are very fashionable and you see lots of different styles around campus.

I love that almost every girl wears rain boots here! I would wear them to out door rainy events and such during high school, and I was always the only person wearing them! It was crazy! I personally would hate to be a boy they don't have much of a shoe selection. But the boys around here do know how to pull off their limited choice in shoes.

Females are always going to have more shoes than males, me myself I like to keep it classic and rock the Nike or Jordan shoes. In the winter time I like to wear nice Timberland's or work boots. Its also funny how you mentioned the rain in this blog, because it just so happens to be raining a lot today. I have seen those boots them females wear when it rains.

I love my rainboots, and I unfortunately made a bad decision by not wearing them today! I love the picture showing the trends girls. Very creative having a different shoe on every foot! Great job!

All the the shoe trends mentioned or seen in this post are definitely very popular on campus. I actually wore my sperrys yesterday and just took off my rainboots. I like how you all talked about both men and women shoe trends as well.

This post definitely hit on what guys are wearing. Guys love their wallabees's and sperrys to a comfortable but classy casual look. They are more stylish then tennis shoes and i think that all guys should have a pair. For the girls shoes i wish that you would have hit on boots more because there are so many different styles that are coming out. I know that i have at least six pairs of boots in my closet for the winter not just my uggs and rainboots. Shoes are very important and can make or break an outfit.

This blog is perfect! You guys hit the nail on the head with the trends I think! I love Wallabee's, everyone at my high school had at least one pair: guy or girl. Sperry's are a must in anyone's wardrobe as well because they go with everything. My favorite part of the blog is the picture of the ladies footware. It is so clever! Great job!

Awesome job ladies! Pictures are great and the blog was very informative and exciting! I don't have any rain boots but I know I need to get some! I know these trends you have mentioned are accurate because i've seen them around a lot lately!

I have notice the footwear trends change as the weather has and believe that you were spot on in your post. I like to wear a comfortable shoe when it's colder and will break out my boots when it's really cold or raining. I see a lot of girls where rain boots during the inclement weather and I'm amazed of all the variety that they have in those boots.

It is true that girls have several different shoes for various occasions. I have rain boots, but also snow boots (Uggs). I have flip flops but also high heels and dressy slide-ons. Also I have Sperry's for every day wear. The choice of shoe someone picks really can affect their day. For example, today would've been a lot worse without rain boots!

Before coming to UK i had know idea what sperry's were. They are so popular here it seems almost everyone owns a pair. They seem extremely comfortable i may have to get a pair. I have also never seen Wallabee's before. This blog post really hit on the many different shoe trends!

Rain boots are a must in college, especially on days like today. There are so many different choices of style and color it's still easy to stand out if you want. Uggs are also an extremely popular shoe around campus. Wallabee's were making a hit on WKU's campus last year, however I haven't seen many yet this semester at UK. It will be interesting to see if this changes when the snow starts.

This blog did a great job at highlighting all of the popular shoe trends that I have recently seen around campus as the weather has begun to change. As a matter of fact, today I saw tons of girls walking around in their colorful rain boots. Another type of shoe I have seen quite a bit around campus are the Mintonka Moccasins. I have a pair and they're so comfortable; I wear them daily.

All of these shoes are very popular on UK campus.I almost get tired of seeing all the same shoes all the time. You definately need to have rain boots with the crazy weather we have in lexington, and the show choice gets pretty limiting through the winter.

Lauren Sullivan said...

Sperrys are a shoe you can wear at anytime of the year and they match almost anything you put on.I think its great that stores have recently provided more trendy rainboots to purchase!

Levy Bui said...

I've noticed that boots are a very big trend this season. I've seen an aray of boots from casual ones, to fringe ones, to the typical UGG boots. Nothing beat wearing these in the winter season. They are fashionable and so warm!

I love wearing boots, any kind, uggs, rain boots, booties, and cowboy boots. I also love wearing Sperrys and you can wear them any time of year and they can be dressy or casual. I love the pictures and how so many shoes are shown. Guys dont have as many choices as girls but they usually make Sperrys and tennis shoes work. It will be interesting to see what shoes they will wear in the snow.

On campus you can see people sporting uggs and rainboots and other boots. They are one of the most popular trends, especially in this unpredictable fall weather. Sperry's and Wallabees are also very popular trends around campus. They are simple and match almost everything.

I think all these shoes for the girls and guys are right on target. You can always see tons of guys wearing Sperry's or Wallabee's on campus since the weather is getting warmer. Also, rain boots will start to be seen more and more with the rain and snow coming. If its not raining, just regular boots and sperrys are seen.

Great post, I was actually thinking about buying some warmer shoes for this winter season. Also, with the heavy rains today, I found myself jealous of all the girls who had the long rain boots on as my shoes were getting wet. Not sure yet which style I'll go with for the winter shoe but definitely one that is warm and water resistant.

I am not a big fan of the Clark's Wallabee shoe for men; I think guys should keep it basic and stick to sneakers. Although, i love all types of shows for girls. I especially like the pink studded sandals in the picture, they would look amazing for the right dress up occasion.

I have been noticing alot of fellas wearing the Wallabee around campus. I had never seen them before and was wondering were they for a casual look or to get your feet warm. they look really comfortable though. Where can I find a pair?

Margo Cain said...

I must admit I own the rainbows, the "trendy sandals", the sperrys, the cold weather boot, and the rainboots hahaha. I love that this article targeted both girls and guys and each genders different interest. It represented that not EVERYONE does wear sperrys or shoes like that so it was nice to see others included :)

Cara Richardson said...

Clark Wallabee's are a huge trend right now! I own a pair and have had them since my sophomore year. They still look practically brand new. They are the most comfortable shoes I own by far! Now that the weather is changing, boots at the major trend!

Mallory Patrash said...

Shoes are probably my favorite thing to buy. my favorite shoes for the fall/winter are definitely my Bestsey Johnson rainboots! Even though they arn't the most practical since they are wedges they are definitely adorable. I also love Ugg's for keeping my feet warm and they have so many different styles now it's easier to find a pair that not many other people have. I am looking for a pair of black dressy boots that have a heel but are still somewhat comfortable to pair with leggings and use for more dressy looks this fall and winter!

Erin.Creelman said...

I agree with this blog, in that all girls love to wear shoes and boots are especially popular this season. One necessary shoe here is the rainboot, they are great for rainy weather and can just be pulled over leggings. For guys, sperry's are a great shoe to wear when its cold outside along with the gym shoe.

Wellies are a must for UK weather! They keep pants dry in rainy weather and allow for puddle splashing! Riding boots and ankle boots are also popular this season and go perfectly with skinny jeans and sweaters.

I have seen many girls wearing boots and rain boots on days when the weather is cold and dreary on campus. I have also seen these Clark Wallabies around campus and they are being worn by alot of guys. I think the Sperry is a great year around shoe and it will never go out of style. I love cold weather because I love wearing my boots!

These are definitely popular on campus, although they may not be popular in the actual fashion world.

I wish our campus was not so behind on the times. More recent trends on the catwalk are a stretched combat boot, nude open-toed tall boots, geometric heels, flossed shoes, and more.

shoes make an outfit,if your trying to match that is.Its easier for boys to just throw on a pair of shoes and go but girls actually want to match and look fashionable.the good thing about that is we ladies have plenty to choose from boots to sandals.

One of my favorites for fall is minnetonka boots or mockisens. They are so comfortable and warm without the bulkiness of uggs. I also love wallabees for girls with the cold weather!!

Rainboots are an essential part of most girls wardrobes! While mine from last year were ruined.. i have yet to buy another pair, and for that exact reason i didnt go to class yesterday. I had no shoes to keep my feet and pants from getting soaked! As it is starting to get colder i agree when the blog says most days we will see boots and sperrys.

Shoe trends always seem to be a big hit on campus! with the weather changing you have started to see more boots when going to class. Its fun to see all the different colors and patterns of rainboots that people have been sporting. Its a fun way to show your personality off through what you wear. With the weather getting colder, im sure different boots will be bigger part of this years trends.

Shoes! I think everyone would like to have a new shoe for every outfit. Sperrys, Uggs, and rainboots always come into to play during the fall. Sperrys can be worn all year long so they are a definite mainstream line. It's going to be fun to see all the new styles that people will bring out this season, but so far the usual trends have maintained.

For guys the shoes always stay the same. THey are always comfy and casual, yet some of the shoes like the wallabies can be more dressy. The girls have so many more options to keep their feet dry and warm during the winter season, and it's funt o see the different rainboots, and regular boots. If you are trying to keep your feet extra warm, ugg boots will always be there. ALthough they may not be the cutest things, they are the warmest things I can think of for feet in the winter cold.

With the weather changing there is definitely a change in what types of shoes guys and girls wear. For me, during the cold months, keeping my feet warm is a must. When Sperry's became popular you started to see more varieties of them so they couldnt just be worn in the spring and summer but now in the winter with wool Sperrys.

Shoes are a very trendy accessory! I know that I personally own a pair of sperrys, wallabees, and uggs. These are three very popular pairs of shoes. I love them not just because alot of other people like them but because they are very versatile and comfortable. I love throwing on a pair of jeans and slipping into my tall uggs when its cold outside. Along with the ugg trend came other flat boots which have become a recent popular item. Flat rider boots are a great way to dress up and outfit without having to put on a pair of high heels. I am already tall so I have always been a big fan of flat shoes and love that there are so many more selections for flat boots lately!

You pinpointed the shoes just right. I love looking at all the cute rain boots around campus. I don't have a pair myself but they will definitely come in handy. Boots on the other hand is something that I have acquired. In general you will never go around campus without seeing pairs of UGG boots or Sperry's, it's inevitable.

I love the picture of girls each wearing two different types of shoes, very cute and original! I also like the validity of this blog, the students that wrote this definitely knew what they were talking about and we up to date with the most recent trends. Another thing that I enjoyed about the blog is how fashionable they made UK sound!

Wallabee's seem to be a growing men among college students, particularly with guys; I have recently been seeing almost see more guys than girls wearing them! Ugg boots and Sperrys are typical among the girls, although I saw one girl wearing a pair of flip flips on the way to class the other day when it was nearly above 40 degrees. Uggs are such a great investment, especially with the large assortment of style and color; they are excellent for cold weather, and have a stylish appearance as well!

I think rain boots are a necessity when walking around campus on rainy days. I never had a pair until a few months ago and I love them. I've never bought a pair UGGs before either but I'll probably buy a pair soon before it gets too cold and snowy out.

I think its great how Sperry's have become so popular among college students in the past few years. At least at my high school, nobody wore those types of shoes. I agree that Wallabee's are really popular among boys and girls as well. I haven't seen too many sandals or flip flops since it is in November now. And no rain boots really until yesterday (that is a trend I am not a big fan of).

I have a pair of sperry's and wallabee's and they are both an essential pair of shoes when winter time rolls around. I have a pair of rainboots but don't really wear them, they are one shoe that I don't look forward to being able to wear. I'm glad that some types of winter shoe styles are becoming more stylish because its sometimes harder to find cute shoes in the winter.

Second to my obsession with coats is my obsession with shoes. I completely love all the shoes that are pictured. I think all forms of boating shoes have really been a big thing on most college campuses. They're a trend that will never really end. Rain boots are popular this season since it rains so much. In my hometown someone would have been looked over twice for wearing rain boots, but here at UK its a common thing. I even went out and bought a pair.
