Black Friday Recap #1

Lexington shoppers flocked to the stores this Friday along with thousands of other eager customers across the U.S. for Black Friday sales. This holiday takes place every year the Friday after Thanksgiving and was named as such because for many retailers, it marked the day on which the retailers went from being in the red to in the black. One UK student left for shopping as early as 4:30! She explained that she was determined to purchase the perfect gift for her nephew at Toys R Us and a dress for upcoming Christmas parties. She showed us her receipt for the dress she purchased from Express that was on sale for 40% off. Many retailers such as Express had deals that only lasted for a few hours on Friday.
Confused about what to get the younger members of the family? According to an NRF survey, the most popular gifts this year for boys are video games, LEGO, and car toys. For girls the top three items were Barbie toys, dolls, and Dora the Explorer toys. Hannah Montana and Toy Story toys are also popular this year.

I applaud the people who venture out so early on Black Friday! I have never been Black Friday shopping and probably never will, that is way to early for me to get up! I've heard many of my friends thought have come away with great deals and have saved a ton of money on gifts for Christmas thanks to Black Friday!

I did not attend Black Friday this year. But some members of my family did and came away with some great deals. I try to stay away from the mall on Black Friday, it is to crazy for me. But it was a great day for retailers everywhere and they make huge profits!

I went black friday shopping this year starting around midnight, and finishing early friday morning. My friends and I all went together, and found that it wasnt as busy as when we normally go. Normally we go in the afternoon, but this year we headed out all night to find good deals. While some stores had a lot of traffic, we could tell that others were waiting for those who were sleeping in a while. Either way, we found good deals and had a great time!

At Express we had 40% off before noon, then 30% off the rest of the day; so no matter what time you came in you were getting a great deal! I think even though technology is changing for children's toys, I believe that LEGOS and barbies will always be on the top of every child's christmas list. It's just such a classic, and that is why there are great sales for these toys the day after Thanksgiving to make sure every child can get what they asked for at Christmas time.

Back st home Black Friday was huge! Although I did not wake up at 4am to start shopping alot of my friends did and i got to see first hand the deasl they did get! I am too impatient to wait in the long lines, but if you know what you are looking for and want it cheap black friday is the day for you!

I think that Black Friday shopping is crazy!! I heard of people going at midnight and 2 a.m.! I don't think any discount is worth waking up that early and waiting in long lines.

I live close to Toys R Us and I seen a lot of parents gathering around around 7 o clock hoping to get the latest toy on sale. Many of the ads for black Friday were bigger and had better sales since previous years. I am so glad I don't any nieces or nephews so I don't have to go to toy stores.

I always want to go shopping on Black Friday, but I very rarely get up at make it to the malls that early. I like a laid back shopping experience, and Black Friday is anything but that! However, the dress she got on sale at Express that's amazing! I did not know Express has that good of sales on Black Friday!

This year I did go shopping on black friday and I got an amazing deal on a Columbia coat. It was originally $260 and after all the discounts I got it for about $80! Getting up that early was definitly worth it for me!

I also got up at 4:30 to go shopping! I was so determined to get a lot of shopping done to save the most money before christmas,...I spent my entire paycheck but it was worth it! I got some awesome deals, and I wasn't tired really because i got a free red bull!

I did not get up to do any shopping this Black Friday. I did have to work at Fayette Mall and the place was packed even until it closed. Many people toke advantage of this day to do all of their holiday shopping, even on items that were not on sale. I work at Sunglass Hut that did not offer discounts on regularly price glasses. However, people went ahead and purchased these glasses just because they were out for Black Friday shopping.

I was definitely not one of the people who woke up at the crack of dawn to catch all of the great sales last Friday. I have never been that into Black Friday. I have several friends who are, though, and it's amazing how much money you can actually save on Black Friday!!

I am definately not the person who will wake up as early as 4:30 a.m to catch all the great deals at the mall. I dont like all the big lines and how the stores are so crowded so i would rather wait until maybe late that day or just go another time! My cousins usually get up and go really early in the morning but i definately wont wake up that early. maybe one year i will because i do hear of people getting really good deals!

I spent my holiday in North Carolina over the break. I did go shopping on black Friday but I did not wake up to leave until around 9 a.m. Luckily it seemed that even with it being later in the day the stores still seemed to be in stock of everything featured in the previous days ads.

I am so glad I was still in the Bahamas for Black Friday to avoid all the madness, lines, and traffic. However, after hearing and seeing all the deals people got I am a little jealous. Maybe next year I'll venture out to get the best deals because some of the price reductions I've seen are almost worth the craziness :)

I have never attended the black friday sales, but I did this year! I just wanted the experience, and I didn't really have that much money to be spending. I know a lot of people who will not even get close to the mall on black friday, but I thought it was a pretty fun event. I love shopping, and the mall I went to opened at midnight! I thought it was very fun to shop in the middle of the night!

Many people live for black Friday! I do attend black Friday and it is a very eventful day to say the least. This year I like how stores began to open at 10 p.m. Thanksgiving night. It was much easier shopping through the night than getting up early and hitting the stores all day. It’s crazy how retailers can mark some products down so much.

Every year I get up and go shopping on Black Friday with my best friend and my brother. It is always an adventure and I always end up buying stuff for only myself. I love all the deals that go on and it is worth getting up that early.

I didn't get to shop on black friday because I was working, but I did take advantage of some of the thanksgiving day sales the day of thanksgiving! I got a really cute pea coat from express that was orignially $148.00 for 40% off and then I was able to apply a gift card to that that I had received for my birthday so I feellike I lucked out great on the jacket and I love it!

I think Black Friday is a complete holiday in its own. People literally mark the date on their calendar and count down the days and why not... you can get such good deals. People who wake up at ridiculous hours like 4:00 am always snag the best deals. I myself cannot wake up that early to deal with crowds and long lines. I normally venture to the malls and stores the day after Black Friday.

Black Friday is such an event for so many people. My best friend goes every year, she and her family make an event out of it with matching shirts and everything. She texted me at 5am as she was on her way to the mall, talking about how excited she was for the Express sale. I've never been shopping on Black Friday, but it sounds like a real experience.

I think its great that there are so many deals offered on Black Friday. Although I may have not made it out at 4:30am to get a dress, I did make it to Macy's later that evening. I ended up going to the mall at about 9pm with a friend in curiosity of whether it would still be open. Macy's was still open and we spent our Friday night trying to sort through the leftovers of the day. We still found some GREAT deals. I managed to get a dress that was originally 40% off and was on a rack that said take an additional 40% off. I ended up getting the dress for about $30 when it should have been over $100. So, in my opinion, you don't necessarily need to be the first one at the stores. I discovered that even one of the last people there can still manage to find great deals.

I didn't go shopping on black friday because it is too crazy. I think the deals are great if you're looking for something in particular, but the early shopping and crowds can make it stressful. I think it is a good idea for retailers though to boost their sales for the holiday season.

I had to work on Black Friday at 5 a.m. and boy was it an adventure! We had customers lined outside our doors trying to get in when the employees came in before the store actually opened. Our store ended with a very high profit compared to last year! We were very impressed.

Im so upset i had to miss out on all the deals of black friday! most of the deals were over by noon and i didnt even get off work until 12:30. i really wanted to go to macys because is saw that they were having a good deal that day. Maybe next year, but knowing me i will probably have to work again. I cant say that i really wanted any of the new electronics this year, i think im pretty well stocked which is unusual.

Black Friday is so much fun! I woke up at 3:30 and got some ridiculous deals at the mall! The line for Express got longer and longer as I was in the store - 40% off, who wouldn't take advantage of that deal! I got some great gifts for family members and mostly shopped for myself! The insight about top toy gifts for children was a great idea!

I know a lot of my own aunts and uncles went Black Friday shopping for my cousins this year. I went there as well to get some educational games for my little cousins that were originally 30 dollars, but I got them for 10. Toys R Us had the best deals for Christmas gifts for the children.

I think it's so interesting seeing how all the merchandise is on sale in the stores, not just the stuff thats been there awhile. The girl who got the dress from Express got a great deal so I guess it pays to wake up early. Next year I might have to venture out to a mall and try to catch some of the great deals.

For the past 4 years my mom, a few cousins and I go Black Friday shopping together. This year we went out at 9 on thursday night and I made my 2 aunts go with us. Some store were so crowded we couldnt even get into the parking lot. One of the local malls were also having a Midnight Madness sell and it was packed but we all got everything we went for and didnt get in any fights. Many stores were also counting the people as they went in the store and were only allowing so many in at a time. We got alot of great deals and I cant wait until next year so we can do it all again.

This was the fourth Black Friday that I've worked, and it is always a crazy experience! Most people are always really excited to be shopping early and getting deals, but there are always a few angry customers. It's great to see that some stores that don't usually participate in sales are joining in on the Black Friday fun!

This is the first year in a couple years that I was unable to go Black Friday shopping sadly. I was had to work all day so couldn't, but the deals you see really are hard to imagine until you go for yourself!

I went Black Friday shopping this year just like I do every year and I love it. I found a few good deals at the malls and Kohls. One thing I purchased was and $90 coat on sale for $33. That dress at Express was a pretty good deal. I didn't go into that store this year but I'll definitely have to check it again next year to see if there's good sales going on.

I unfornately worked Black Friday. I work at Wet Seal and the deals were great. From 4-12 everything in the store was 50% off and from then on it was buy one get on for $5. I was exhausted after working so long ringing the whole time. Not to mention being there so early and having to please everyone when you just wanted to go back to bed. After that day it makes me definitely not want to go out for Black Friday.

I love that a student was interviewed for this blog and a picture of their receipt was even shown. I also liked how this blog talked about popular gifts to purchase as well as all the jazz about Black Friday. Lastly, I thought it was great how the students explained what Black Friday was and used the information we learned in class about it.

Its kind of fun shopping on black friday, you get to see everyone shop and be enthused about it. Although it fun to shop, I could not wake up at 4:30am to do it. It is rather interesting to see the different sales that stores have in order to attract customers at this time of the year also.

I have never had anything i wanted so badly enough to stand in line for hours like some people on black friday. Although i do always go out around ten, i still find good deals with out having to be up and about at 4 a.m!! This year alot of the really good deals went longer than i remember them lasting last year.

This was the first year that I have participated in Black Friday events. I went and sat at Wal-Mart with my boyfriend to get an X-Box. It was not as bad as I thought but I wouldn't want to do it every year. Good idea to put the receipt on here. I know how expensive some Express dresses can be so 40% off is a good deal.

I went out to a big mall in Michigan for Black Friday. The only store i bought something in was express because they had 40% off until noon that day. I got myself a sweater for christmas that was originally 80$ but i got it for 50$. I ended up waiting in line for at least an hour but it was such a good deal i couldn't pass it up!

I did not go out on black Friday this year. I had to work, but I think that it can be fun but also somewhat overstimulating. Some stores that are super crowded and out of stock on a lot of things really tend to stress me out. But the sales are awesome to say the least! You just have to decide if it is worth it to deal with the multitudes of crazy shoppers.

Black Friday shopping is always crazy. My best friend and I were going to hit the stores that were open starting at midnight, but it started sleeting and snowing. I actually had to work on black Friday. I honestly dont get what the hype is about. I would much rather buy things after black Friday, some stores raise the prices just to make it seem like youre getting a good deal.

I really like how at the end of this entry there are a few gift ideas that are suppose to be whats hot. Black Friday is the best way to get great Christmas presents at great low prices. Although I don't run for the door busters they sometimes still have them after the time is up which I absolutely love.

I usually hate Christmas shopping but this year I'm really excited about it. I already bought a few gifts for my sister at JCrew and Banana Republic. She prefers the "business look" so those were the stores that I thought best suited her this year.

I'm glad that this year I didn't have to shop for any Christmas gifts that would require me saving a lot of money on Black Friday sales. I prefer to stay at home this day anyways. The crowds and madness is too much for me. Most of the time if you are shopping online you can get just as good of deals that Black Friday is offering. You just have to look harder but its worth it to avoid crowds.

I think the societal anticipation of Black Friday is decreasing. In the 90's, many shoppers were getting up early to buy the latest trends that were only available in limited quantities in the stores: Beanie Babies, Cabbage Patch Dolls, and Furbies. Today, the trends are available online, and I think many people are beginning to purchase online to avoid the early morning chaos-it's an easy way to purchase what you want and even have it delivered to you!

I literally can not resist Black Friday deals! There is something so satisfying about buying something nice for yourself or your loved ones and knowing you paid a quarter of what its actually worth! I'm so excited this year. My brother and I have a bargain hunting tradition. I'm buying everyone in my house a new computer (except my husband because he is computer illiterate =)) instead he's getting a shopping spree from The Sportsman's Guide (his favorite camping/fishing site). I had never heard of "Cyber Monday" until this year, but they are apparently having a sale online which saves your feet a long day!
