Highlight of Lexington Boutiques

Bella Rose is a store full of classic and trend setting clothes. They have everything from the everyday jeans to the perfect dress for any occasion.  The store is located on the corner of South Upper and West Maxwell. They have an eye popping red trimmed door and colorful roses painted on the columns. Almost everyone coming in from the airport, or going to visit the University of Kentucky recognizes the store. It has become almost a landmark that people identify with.

“Many people see the store and come in to try on a featured dress displayed in the window” said an employee. The stores window displays are always changing. The employee also said that their window displays are most profitable during the holiday seasons and around horse racing season. Bella Rose is a woman’s store primarily stocked with dresses, and classic accessories yet still up to date. It is truly a cute boutique that Lexington makes its own.

Third Street Stuff was chosen because it is one of the most unique shops in Lexington. When looking into the window you see tons of colorful knick-knacks and trinkets.  Most everything is hand-made, with an indie kind of feel. They sell jewelry; paintings, knick knacks, café style food and drinks, and accommodate all their guest with several different settings. The entry way is a small store, the middle is the café, and the back is a different genre from the middle. Third Street stuff is the ideal place to relax, write a paper, or find a gift for someone.  The entire store has no set decorative pattern, no chairs match, nothing is consistent, and yet it all flows together perfectly. Third Street Stuff is such a special place, every inch of venue is artistically inspired, to their handmade “bike” bike rack, to beautifully painted trashcans.

The actual windows of Third Street stuff are spectacular but a more abstract way of marketing is the outside area, which is brightly and oddly decorated. It brings to focus immediately the type of place Third Street Stuff is.  Immediately your eyes are drawn to the colorful patio and wall. The wall is decorated with coins, dolls, quotes, abstract art, bright paint, bottle caps, and bottles. As we watched people pull up, the first thing they were drawn to is this wall of art. Small stores like this are important to Lexington’s rich culture and small businesses. Third Street Stuff is not a corporate owned store, but started by a few people with a simple dream. The busiest time of the year for them is around the holidays, and more particular the fall and winter when customers want to get in out of the cold, and be in a warm, welcoming, and creative environment.  If anyone is looking for a place to call their own special spot, Third Street Stuff should be considered.

I've worked at Third Street Stuff before and I love this coffee shop. Most of the customers are regulars so it is great to see familiar faces. The food here is very good too, so it is also a very popular place to grab a quick lunch!

Third Street Stuff is such a unique shop in Lexington! It is important that we keep in mind the local businesses and mom and pop stores because as we talked about in class, they are able to offer more personal customer service and a greater love and dedication to the business. I look forward to purchasing personal, quirky gifts for my friends for Christmas here!

Love. Love. Love boutiques! I love everything about them and I've been to several while I've been staying in lexington my freshman year. You never know what to expect when you walk inside of one because they could have old stuff or new stuff.

This weekend for parent weekend, my mom and I went shopping in Lexington. We were out looking for the little boutiques we wouldnt be able to find at home. We loved bella rose, and spent so long in that store, looking over the wide range of unique pieces. It's pricey but a great store! I cant wait to check out some of these other hot spots.

I really want to go to Bella Rose so bad. I pass it all the time and the dresses they have displayed are all so cute. Hopefully one day i'll go and shop in the store. I have actually never heard of Third Street Shop, but it sounds really cool. I like how its so crazy and colorful and think it's cool and unique that nothing matches but it all flows. Maybe i'll visit there someday as well.

Stores are always looking for a way to advertise their stores to bring people in and shop their merchandise. I think both boutiques do a great job of advertising their specific styles by the outside of their stores and make people want to come in and shop. I love how the boutiques are so unique around lexington, which makes for a different shopping experience for me.

I've been to Bella Rose and absolutely love their merchandise, it's always so stylish and not too expensive. I've never been to Third Street Stuff, but we have a store similar to this back home called Just Creations. I love the laid back indie kind of feel of shops like this. I definitely need to go check it out!

I love the outfits in the window displays in Bella Rose and I probably will go in and ask for one! I hadn't seen the West Street Stuff store yet but it seems like more of a destination store for me to just go and have fun with friends or something and not buy anything. -Kirsten Ramos

I've passed by the Bella Rose store countless times and noticed the displays in the window. I've never made an effort to go into the store because they market to females. I've heard from friends that the dresses here are also quite expensive. Third Street Stuff looks like a creative and very unique shop that I would be interested in stopping by to check out how it looks on the inside or maybe buy a unique gift for someone.

Bella Rose is such an awesome place to shop! I have been in there several times and made a couple of purchases. Bella Rose is actually really expensive... especially compared to some of the other local boutiques around Lexington that have a style similar to Bella Rose. But, it is still a very awesome, trendy place.

I'm glad that this blog focused on highlighting Third Street Stuff. I live on Third Street, and walk to this cafe almost daily. They have a really good selection of sandwiches, and Pat, the owner, is quite a character! I'd be interested to see how Third Street will compete with Cuppa.

I think both of these stores show how their appearance can attract customers. One with the red, professional look and the other with kind of random eclectic feel. I also think it is interesting how their displays to attract customers with one changing their dresses for what's in and the other using a lot of color to grab potential customers' attention.

I am not big on Boutiques anywhere. Since I have been staying in Lexington for the past two years it would be good for me to brighten my outlooks on them. I do always glance at Bella Rose when I pass it but some of the things they display sometimes looks like something for my mother. I have never heard of Third Street Stuff but it just sounds a little cluttered, but I don't want to speak to soon.

Third street stuff is by far not only the coolest little coffee shop in lexington, but has a neat little store attached to it! Everything offered at Third Street is unique and interesting!! While it does not sell very many clothes, Bella Rose on the other hand is a great place to get formal wear! Many of friends buy their keenland dresses there in the spring!

This was a very informative post on Lexington boutiques that I never really knew a lot about. Bella Rose is out of my price range as a college student so I never even tempted myself going inside. I never had heard about the Third Street Stuff store and I definitely hope to check it out before I leave Lexington. Boutiques are a great way for Lexington to set itself apart from other towns that do not have premier shopping choices.

I have been dying to go to Bella Rose, but unfortunately haven't been able to make a trip there yet. I was hoping someone would do a blog about it since it is a very well known boutique. The other store, Third Street Stuff, sounds very interesting! That kind of store is my favorite type of store to shop/be in. Now, I really want to go there, based off the information I've learned about it in this blog.

I love third street stuff for all of the different accessories and items. It is a great place to pick up a small gift for someone or even to just stop in and get some coffee. I love Bella Rose as a boutique for their selection of formal dresses. I grew up in Lexington and loved shopping there for high school dances such as prom, homecoming, and sixteen seniors. I definitely recommend stopping in both of these retail locations if you have never been!
