UK Football Trends

UK Football is a big part of the culture of the University of Kentucky and majority of people in the Lexington community. The team has some of the most loyal fans in collegiate sports even when the team is going through a rough patch. For the past couple weeks before the South Carolina game we had been facing a series of losses against SEC rival teams, but despite all of that the fans still showed their support and came out wearing UK blue t-shirts with “BEAT SOUTH CAROLINA” written in white on the back and “GO CATS” in the front.  It was a big challenge for us beating the tenth ranked Gamecocks at the time but we still supported our team and pulled through with a victory.

After the win, the Big Blue Nation exited their seats in joy and some even decided to rush the field in celebration. Overall it was a memorable experience to beat Steve Spurrier for the first time and the highly ranked Gamecocks in general.  This weekend go out and cheer on the wildcats when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs, GO CATS!

I missed that game, but it was great seeing everyone dressed in blue to cheer on the Cats! What I love about UK is that no matter whether we win or lose, the fans always come out to show their support! That's what being a true fan is all about.

I think it was great for the UK football team to beat South Carolina last weekend. The win helped the team in its bowl eligibility ranks. I didn't even know that they had "Beat South Carolina" t-shirts, but it was a good idea. Now, for them to beat the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend would truly be a great win also, I hope it doesn't happen though. Like I said once before, I am not a UK fan.

This is the first game I didn't go to all season... and it was because I couldn't find anything to wear! I wish I had know about those cute Beat South Carolina t-shirts!! I love seeing all the funny t-shirts that Hands On comes up with around football season against our rival teams.

By beating South Carolina, I think it gave the footballs players hope and boosted their pride. Not only are the Gamecocks a highly ranked team but to defect them it gave inspiration to the players. With the beat South Carolina t-shirts in the crowd there was no way a Gamecock fan was happy about the turnout of the game.

Although I did not attend the south carolina vs kentucky game I watched it from home on the tv. The game was super close, and with the amazing last play UK's victory was epic.I think with the football spirit girls and guys both have their way of expressing UK pride. Depending on where you're coming from on game day, you can say the wide variety of dress. Girls in dresses, jerseys, and just UK appearal, to guys who dress in jerseys, uk appearal and body paint. Now that its turning off cold Im suprised to still see so many people supporting the UK spirit.

I hated that I couldn't attend the game after seeing how intense it got on television. I'm not big on going to the games, but I defiantly wished I was standing with the thousands of fans cheering UK on to their victory. I think this post is great. Football is a big deal to the UK's campus and they show it by giving away all kinds of free stuff.

Having special t-shirts made for a specific game is a great way to get the crowd involved in the game other than of course rooting on the team. Beating South Carolina gave UK football fans a little boost of hope that the season will get better. Because I know, not everyone is ready for football season to be over just yet.

It was so exciting to be at the game and rush the field. I, too, was wearing a BEAT SOUTH CAROLINA tee given out at Big Blue Madness. As an insane Kentucky fan as well as a fashion addict, I always love seeing the trends at all the games. This was an especially exciting one.

I went to the South Carolina game and it was amazing! I also got one of the t-shirts they were handing out, which were really cool because they were reversible. On one side they were beat south carolina, and on the other was a t-shirt for big blue madness. I think it was an awesome idea to make shirts for both of these events.

The South Carolina game was awesome! I was unaware of these t-shirts, but they're such a good idea. It's a great way to pump up fans because, honestly, who doesn't love free UK t-shirts?

I went to the game and it was quite the experience, I even saw people who where crying they where so excited. Its a moment I will always remember, just the pure excitement, if commonwealth had a ceiling it would have been busted open. I personally believe the shirts had something to do with the win, because they just got the crowd up and excited.

I am glad I decided to stay for the whole game and not leave at half time! It was definitely a great game, and would of hated to miss it! I got one of the free shirts as well. It was nice seeing everyone wearing them to support the CATS! Hopefully, they will keep coming up with ideas about free tshirts like this one!

That game was absolutely amazing. I wasn't prepared for that so I was extremely excited. Our fans are really loyal like the blog states and those t-shirts just how much spirit we have. You will always see a sea of blue come game time. That win allowed the fans and the team to get so encouraged for the next game.

I was so excited that we won last weekend against South Carolina. I love UK football, but am not very knowledgable about whose good, whose not, so knowing that this was a hard team to beat, and we did made me really happy! I love seeing all the fans at games, and see there reaction like rushing the field at the end of game in victory. I hope the UK can pull through for the rest of the season and give us some more wins!!

SATURDAYS GAME WAS INCREDIBLE :)))
go CATS! That definitely gives us bragging rights in the SEC haha I loved the fans in the stands the most. It didn't really much about the fashion this past weekend as it did the color. GO BIG BLUE

I think the loyalty of the UK fans are the most important aspect of the game! If there were no fans at the game to support the cats, i don't think the team would be as pressured to put on a good show and to entertain us. The cats always entertain and have created this awesome atmosphere of loyalty to none other then the brilliant blue and white! Obviously the game was an exciting one because the fans rushed the field in excitement! The cats did an amazing job last saturday and gave us just another reason to love them and continue to be loyal fans!

I had great seats for the game last Saturday and it was by far my most memorable game here at UK. For the first time, since starting at UK three years ago, I was able to see the goal posts taken down and watch fans rush onto the field. It was truly an incredible experience. I did not purchase a "Beat South Carolina" shirt, but now I really wish I would have!

What a great win for the UK football team! It was such an exciting game and a good pick me up after a few losses. UK is said to have some of the best fans in the world so no surprise that people came out and supported in their big blue wear. The personalized shirts for the game were a good idea. That will be a game that won't be forgotten.

I never really go to the games. Shame on Me. The fan base here at UK is very oriented the fans play a big part in pumping up the team. Although I didn't go I know it looked like a sea of blue if everyone had on their Blue shirts. So everyone had nothing more to do than SEE BLUE.

Way to go CATS! UK Football is another tradition that is explosive. Fans are fanatical about their CATS and they love to show it in what they wear. From war paint to t-shirts and hoodies in the fall by both guys and girls, UK fans love them some football!

UK fans are some of the most dedicated in sports by far. They always have so much enthusiasm and approach the games with a winning attitude no matter what the odds. The fans also love to dress in their blue and white to show their spirit. As seen in previous blog entries, UK fans are very committed to supporting their teams not only through their attendance, but also thought their apparel choices.

I always like when UK makes shirts specifically for playing against a team. It shows support from the fans that we really love our Wildcats! It was pretty disheartening to travel all the way to UF and Ole Miss this year to watch the cats lose. So I'm glad we pulled out the win against USC, we really needed it. Plus, it was the first time I have rushed the field in college!

I was so happy that I got to see this game in person! There was definitly a see of blue at the game and it was awesome the CATS pulled off the win. The only thing dissapointing for the game was that I did not rush the field when the game was over.

This was one of the very few games that I couldn't go to and wish I would have there to see! While normally a lot of the girls get dressed up for the games, I think it was a nice change to see so many people wearing the, beat South Carolina shirts. This is a good way to spread more spirit and get pumped up for a game.

Football games in the Bluegrass are filled with a ton of excitement and spirit. The fans definitely show their love for the team and the university by their amazing game wear. Come Saturday morning everyone is "Gameday Ready" prepared in their "Beat South Carolina" and "Bleed Blue" t-shirts.

Ironically enough I was actually in South Carolina while the UK vs. USC game was on this past weekend so I got to rub it in everyone's face when we won. Their fans were devastated. I always rock the slacks, shirt & tie for the football games, it shows respect for the Cats!

The South Carolina win was huge for us last weekend, not only did it end a 10 year losing streak, but it should hopefully propel ua to another bowl game. While on campus the week before I did notice the "Beat South Carolina" shirts. We have the best fans, I'm glad to of been born into Big Blue Nation!

I unfortunately was not able to attend the UK vs South Carolina game, but I did manage to watch the game on television. I watched the game with a group of friends and, to say the least, these supposed UK fans had very little faith in our team. It was a great game and even better win; we have a lot of be proud of. The "Beat South Carolina" t-shirts were a great way to show the support that our college community has for our wonderful football team.

My favorite thing about UK football games is dressing up in blue dresses to tailgate! I like how in the SEC girls like to get dressed up for games instead of just wearing blue t shirts! Its a different atmosphere then anything i have experienced before, i love it!!

I wish I would have been here for this game. I watched it on television and was so jealous i couldn't be here to celebrate with the town. Football is such a huge deal here and I can only imagine the reactions. I can't wait til I can come to another game and show off my spirit. Hopefully this will give the Cats motivation to finish the season strong.

I was unable to attend this game and I'm so mad I didn't get to go. It looked like a really good game and I still can't believe we beat South Carolina. These shirts are really cute and I'm sure lots of fans supported UK wearing them on Saturday! Hopefully we can have another win this Saturday for homecoming!

It's hard to believe there are only three more home games! I hope the fans bring out the best of their blue attire and the cats bring out the fiercest fight!

It was so great that UK capitalized on how big of a weekend it was for sports. The reversible T-shirts were perfect for Friday night and/or Saturday night! Hopefully that becomes a yearly tradition for all Big Blue Madness/Home Football weekends. While all UK games have a fun atmosphere, beating the 10th ranked Gamecocks just took Saturday night over the top!

I really like that they are making t-shirts for each specific game. This is a great way to draw in more revenue because people will want to buy more than just one UK shirt to wear multiple times. This seems to working too. I have seen many people wearing these specialized shirts for the games.
